I still loves me some Sheryl Crow. Which is weird, because she's never really been my kind of music. Decent cover. I prefer the fluidity of the original, though. This version, or this performance, is a little too stiff.

OK, first this is TTD's joint. Sananda aint got nuttin to do with it
I'm interested what this would sound like if she could strictly concentrate on singing instead of singing and playing at the same time. I like the interpretation of this song. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

A 45 minute performance last night after the Late Show with David Letterman. Evidently this is a new thing they're doing called Live on Letterman. MGMT recently did the same thing.

The original is way better, it's a song that should not be sung by anyone else really. Sheryl is one of those boring bland artists that just don't have any appeal to me.

I used to love Sheryl through the 90's and up to 2002's C'mon C'mon release. Everything since has bored me to tears. This is a decent cover though.

She butchers the melody and atmosphere of the song with that generic oversinging technique.

Womp. Hated it. Completely changes the song. That's TTD's song and it should probably stay that way.

I really wanted to like it. I love the song and like Sheryl ok, but this was a train wreck. I didnt think it possible for her to choke on it like she did. Just absolutly terrible.

^ Yeah, I wanted to like it, too. And I like the idea of giving it this sort of take, where the rhythm and feel are a bit more like what you get in, say, some of Bobby Womack or Al Green's music (Love and Happiness, or something).
Thing is, although it's technically proficient 'n' all, it just chugs along blandly, and never really picks up or eases off - just stays the same. Plus, Sheryl's vocal, for all it's tweedling, has the sound of someone moaning at you, rather than anything more soulful. I still like to hear the album, as I like a lot of her earlier stuff, but this isn't selling it to me.
