I have OCD about getting an artist's entire works. Once I decide I really like an artist, I get all their albums. All their official studio albums. I might not get BS remix albums or EPs, live albums, rarities albums etc. So like Michael Jackson, Prince, The Beatles, Zeppelin, Chili Peppers, Stevie, P-Funk, Meat Loaf, Queen... it's crazy. I'm looking through my iTunes library now. There's a lot of artists I own all their albums.

It would take too long to list everyone as I tend to buy all the albums of the artists I like and usually it will take a few consecutive bad albums for me to stop buying a certain artists

Those two as well. I should have all the W&L albums, but I kind of failed completely on the last one. Didn't pick up the album or the singles.

The last Wendy & Lisa album White Flags of Winter Chimney's is really good. Almost as good as Eroica imo. Definitely worth checking out...you might want to look on their website or Amazon, it might still be available on there.

I'll assume that by "every album" you mean official studio releases, and not including compilations (since some artists can have 5 different complilations of essentially the same songs).

As big of a music fan as I am, I am not generally a "completist." Artists you previously liked or loved can easily put out material that you find undesireable. Though it seems everyone, including me, have some artists who just always pique their interest.

That said, surprisingly, I don't own all Prince albums. Almost all of the official studio releases (plus many maxi-singles, bootlegs, and complilations), but I don't own Rainbow Children or the new album.

Artists for whom I own every album (trying to remember off the top of my head):

Meshell Ndegeocello

The Replacements

Tribe Called Quest

Husker Du

Sugar

Tony Toni Tone

The Police

Sade

Brand New Heavies

Soul II Soul

Rage Against the Machine

Erykah Badu

The Suburbs

Pixies

Wendy and Lisa

Jagged Edge

Jaheim

Mint Condition

I know there's some more, but can't remember. Most times when I own an artist's entire catalog it's because I really love the artist, but sometimes it just sort of happens.

I'm not including artists who have a single album or very few albums, like, for example, Diagable Planets or Arrested Development.

Hey Harle, what happened to your avatar? Didn't it used to be Billie?

falloff E=MC² is my least favourite album of hers, I had to buy it though because (and maybe I'm a little biased being a big Mimi fan) I kinda think her missteps are sometimes more interesting than her successes. If you play it enough it will grow on you, it has with me anyway smile

I just realised I no longer have all of Madonna's albums as I gave most of them away lol

You don't have ONE artist/group discography?

Even my brother, who is not big on buying music, has every OutKast, Eminem and Snoop cd.

Blimey! Didn't think this thread would have gotten so popular when I started the beast. The whole 8 studio albums thing has caused a bit of a stir. I went with 8 as it was meant to cut down folk stating everything they own by a particular artist. As some have rightly said to release at least 8 studio albums is a lot by most artists' standards. Just figured it was a good way to gauge who likes what kinda stuff and by who. I could add 20-30 more artists to my original list if it was a case of listing every artist I owned all the studio recordings of but liked the idea of having to base it on artists with at least 8 studio albums in their locker to keep it neater and more of a challenge. Thanks to everyone whose posted so far. Funny how list type threads always prove popular and I love the eclectic tastes we have. No frikkin' wonder peeps can't find loads of common ground with P's output/albums. But then that's why P, the org and P's music is so damn cool and interesting!

I didn't see it either. Obviously a few artists on my list like Jesse Johnson, Ta Mara & The Seen,

and Toni, Toni, Tone didn't make the eight album rule list.

I'd think a four album rule would be more reasonable. I understand having a minimum album requirement, since many artists only release one or two albums, and it's no big deal to own all of them.

But, eight seems like too much since many, many artists never even get to eight albums. Four albums shows a decent committment to an artist and usually represents a significant period of time.
