The Cure's ode to nonconformity,"Jumping Someone Else's Train", is my personal favorite song of theirs. | |

I love their song Catch.
It's not a stereotypical Cure song, but it manages to make me thing of a certain time, place and person even though I didn't hear it until years after.
You can hear the song online here: http://www.youtube.com/wa...RHoc3IHa1I (Sorry, I don't know how to post the video.)
The intro to Just Like Heaven is my ring tone and it always makes me happy.

That's my answer to the question. Such a great song, so well crafted. The swelling fade-in, the sinewy bass, that thick beat. Very bold, and yet at the same time kind of textbook example of "alternative" rock in the late 80s. I love the album version too. Disintegration - It holds some very real personal meaning for me and it takes me right back to that time. Which isn't always a great thing. But it's still one of my favorite songs, ever, by anybody.
And from that same joyous time in my life, Fear of Ghosts.
"The further I get from the things that I care about The less that I care how much further away I get"
Great thread. I have favorite Cure songs on every album from Boy's Don't Cry through Wish. Quite a few b-side favorites as well. Robert Smith, while slightly repetative on occasion, was a brilliant and extremely prolific songwriter during that time period. Things got a bit hit and miss for me after that.
