I heard from someone at the label that they tried about 5 or 6 different styles with Kesha before the "Party girl" style was tried and seemed to work. By that I mean they first tried her in a more country, Taylor Swift-esque way and it wasn't working for her. They tried to make her a Katy Perry clone (which you can hear on the Flo Rida song "Right Round" where she sang the hook), but that wasn't working for her either. So they ripped off Chrissy's style (check out the Chrissy song "My Slushy") and rolled with it.

Gaga still puts her talent forward - she doesn't hide her voice behind six tonnes of autotune, she plays piano and has acoustic versions of all her songs. I'll agree the content of her songs has changed slightly but she was always eccentric image wise and she still has a lot more depth than Ke$ha ever will. Isn't the dollar sign in her name enough of a hint?

Many great respected TALENTED artists have bizarre images/fashion sense - this site is dedicated to one.

Just because someone doesn't play a ton of instruments, doesn't make them less of a musician. Not everyone can be Prince. MJ didn't play as many instruments as Prince, does anyone consider him less of a genius? Don't go saying MJ was an original too because he pulled from HIS influences just as much as Gaga does right now. Is this a gender thing perhaps? You're just plain wrong when you say legit material won't sell. If that were the case, every Brooke Hogan, Tila Tequila moron would be selling through the roof - they don't. I don't deny Kesha's songs are catchy and made for radio and that somewhere under all that fucking autotune there's a decent voice. I also won't deny Gaga's sudden success is surprising and, IMO, says a lot for a general public that is usually very judgmental of anything (or more specifically any female who is) slightly different (look at your own reaction to her). The public took her on in all her wacky weirdness and continues to put her songs at #1 and make her the 4th highest earning musician of 2009. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what you think of her, she's MUCH more successful than Ke$ha, she has a LOT more industry/public respect and will most likely last a lot longer than Ke$ha if Ke$h keeps up this same image/sound.

I am completely satisfied with the music, I brought up the other stuff to prove she does more outside of her music and uses her influence and impact for admirable causes. So what if Ke$ha did one charity show? Doesn't make up for the fact that her image, personality and lyrics are mostly gross and pathetic and she's perfectly fine with, and even PLANNED, to put such an image forward. I remember Pink saying she changed her entire Kesha-like lifestyle around for show biz, it seems like Kesha deliberately became a drunken fool in order to sell records. How utterly sad. We'll see how well that's doing for her in a few years when she's nearing her 30s and still running around yelling "Wanna dance with no pants on HOLLA!"
