Way before TLC's "No Scrubs", Gwen came out with this classic. I love Gwen's voice and the beat is so damn hot!!! Makes me wanna dance. The lyrics crack me up too 
With lines like "no romance without finance", "you got to have a J-O-B" if you wanna be with me", and "but I will have to avoid you if you're unemployed" are too much 
This track hit #1 on both the r&b and club/dance charts in 1986

Back in 86' I wore the hell outta that " . . rent" 12" that to this day its the least played track from her that I play Life has a way of making you live it. . . . | |

"Ain't Nothin' Goin' On but The Rent" is still the single woman's anthem today (and also the anthem for some married women as well) I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince. | |

Gwen also co-produced the track "Naughty Times" by the group Cutty. Same producers/writers as on "Joy Riders" (Brian Morgan & Shelly Scruggs). Although Gwen's not credited as singer on "Naughty Times", i think it's her doing the background vocals during the intro and choruses. Awesome track, another big fave of mine :
