Your personal Top 10 (non Prince) Songs of all Time

A friend and I were having this discussion over drinks the other night, and I thought I'd ask you guys. It will give good perspective to each one of us's personality. Try and name your Top 10 Favorite (non Prince) Songs of All Time, in order if you can.

1: Time to Say Goodbye - Sarah Brightman f/ Andrea Bocelli

2: My Way- Frank Sinatra

3: Colorblind - Counting Crows

4: Kissing You (instrumental) - Craig Armstrong (love theme from Romeo and Juliet)

5: Dear Mama- Tupac

6: Home- Michael Buble

7: Bittersweet Symphony-The Verve

8:A Pirate Looks at 40- Jimmy Buffett

9: The Dance- Garth Brooks

10: I Think God Can Explain - Splendor

A pretty f'd up list. As you can see, I like mellow tracks. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves!

Cheers

The drum work vocal and string arrangement on Portugese Love is fuckin insane. She said in the lnier notes of her "Ultimate Collection" that Rick reminded her that it actually happened in Pittsburgh but Pittsburgh Love didn't have quite the same ring as Portugese lol

Quite the difficult request, but here's my list....for the moment:)

  1. Whitney Houston Megamix (Jody Den Broeder & Warren Rigg Mix) - Whitney Houston - This one seems to always make my list.
  2. Undo It - Carrie Underwood - I love singing this song. Great chorus and melody.
  3. Aphrodite - Kylie Minogue - Catchy tune.
  4. I Got Your Love (Ralphi Rosario Extended Vocal Mix) - Donna Summer - Love Donna's signature vocals in this mix.
  5. She Cries (Soulshaker Club Mix) - Kelly Mueller
  6. Fame (The Game) (Ralphi Rosario Club Mix) - Donna Summer - Despite the fact that it's a Donna Summer song, the contribution by Ralphi is awesome to listen to in stereo.
  7. Fame (The Game) (Extended Ulitmix) - Donna Summer - Hey! It's a great rock track that proves that Donna is more than just dance music. Or, as it used to be called, disco music. This Crayons track should have been a huge radio and Billboard hit.
  8. Tightrope (Edit) (Feat. Big Boi) - Janelle Monae - I love this song. Janelle delivers a great vocal performance on this one.
  9. Bring Me To Life (Bliss Mix) - Evanescence - I so enjoy singing this rockin' track.
  10. So What! (Bimbo Jones Radio Edit) - Pink - Love this remix.

Honorable Mention: Perfect Lie (Nip/Tuck Theme) (DiSante's Extended G&D Remix) - The Engine Room

Why would you say your list is f'd up? It's your own personal list. Nothing wrong with that. I just bought Home by Michael Buble a few minutes ago. Almost got Colorblind, but decided not to.

Compared To What - Les McCann & Eddie Harris

Surrender - Swing Out Sister

Sunshower - Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band

Looking at some of these fantastic lists, makes me wish the thread could've asked for a brief backstory on each track. Sooo....

Home - Depeche Mode

The song is how I feel about finally being in a comfortable place mentally, and literally, and being in love with someone who loves you back.

Aja - Steely Dan

Beautiful tune, and phenomenal album I re-discovered while on tour in Korea (Armed Forces), and made my turbulent state, a little brighter.

Lookin Through The Windows - Jackson 5

This is probably my favorite MJ era, and I get misty-eyed everytime I listen to this song. It's good songwriting, good arrangements, still-relevant lyrics, and overall decent production that holds up well for a 1972 recording.

Tell The Coach - The Busboys

This song seems to evoke the tv show The White Shadow. If I ever meet bandleader Kevin O Neal, I'm gonna ask him.

The Answer Is You - Phyllis Hyman

Though I heard it before viewing Set It Off, I still remember the shock I got in the theatre, hearing it, and sadly realizing no one else probably was giving it a second thought.

The Ocean - Led Zeppelin

This cut has the coolest breakdown/bridge, and Bonham is makin' those drums talk!!!

What You Won't Do For Love - Bobby Caldwell

Is is normal for an 8 year-old boy to like such a sophisticated funk ballad like this? Well it happened. I feel the same way about this song when I first heard it in 1978.

Compared To What - Les McCann & Eddie Harris

First heard it in the movie Casino, and is my favorite song of all time.

Surrender - Swing Out Sister

Yet another great sophisti-funk track that sounds as I first played the cassette back in 1988.

Sunshower - Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band

First heard this in Boyz In The Hood, and finally discovered I had the album that I sadly overlooked.
