Have you ever even heard F*** Tha Police?

F*** Tha Poice was political. And I did say N.W.A. had that edge when Ice Cube was WITH then. And speaking of positive, Express Yourself was a positive song with Dr. Dre on lead vocals.

Now N.W.A. without Ice Cube was only pure shock value AND a self-parody. Nigga4life is one of those album that might have been funny back in the days, but shameful these days. disbelief

I stand by my previous statements.

NWA is garbage and dont get me started on 2livecrew.

I notice that you weren't born until after 1988 (correct if I'm wrong).

But my favorite hip-hop/rap era is 88-93. There were plenty of rap groups at the time. But N.W.A., Public Enemy, 2 Live Crew, & Salt-N-Pepa were played a lot in my teen years. Then again, we had options. If gangsta rap wasn't your cup of tea, you still had many other types of rap to choose from. I miss those days. cool

I feel bad for today's generation of rap fans that seems to not have enough options of what they can listen to. How far underground can they go to find what they want?

I was born in 1991. lol But anyway, the way the music industry is nowadays, the options of getting good music is very low. I just stick to Kanye now (and sometimes Ludacris).

I don't like neither one of them. SB is just lame and Weezy is just overrated, I remember when the guy was in Hot Boys for gods sakes (and even then, that shit was crappy disbelief )

But, even I hate it when people blame those two for ruining hip hop. Some of yall must have forgotten the following D4L, Dem Franchise Boyz, Lil John and The EastSide Boys....

Oh and let's not forget the asshole of all assholes...Diddy.

If you're going to blame someone, blame these jerks, (especially the first two for giving birth to Soulija Bitch) for ruining hip hop. lol

And Hell I'll even go as far as to saying NWA and 2LiveCrew kind of ruined it also. lol

[Edited 7/13/10 21:13pm]

When that style of music went mainstream it did .. there were always rappers that were good for catchy records but not taken seriously . When everybody started doing that style of "hip hop" it didn't help.

But they're one of the reasons we have Soulija Boi. lol But as much as I can't stand SB and Wayne, I really do get sick and tired of people always blaming them for ruining Hip Hop (although those two REALLY didn't make it any better), when it was already becoming crappy before than. When songs like "White-T" came along, I really wanted to stop listening to rap. When songs like "Chicken Noddle Soup" came out, and the fact that it came from NY, I was like WTF???!!!!

Any hip-hop track from 1994-present, I'm very picky. Nas has yet to release a worth follow-up to Stillmatic. Jay-Z (despite that he can NOT be trusted these days) only impressed me with Vol.2: Hard Knock Life & The Black Album. Busta Rhyme has lost his way years ago. Snoop Dogg is still active, but his singles are better than his albums. Dr. Dre has yet to release Detox.

I never thought I say this, but sometimes I miss No Limit Records. lol

I’m not ashamed to admit I liked crank dat lol but I don’t think it was fair at that time when everyone was blaming soulja boy for destroying hip hop in 2007.Most of them was mad he blew up at the time with a B.S song and couldn’t deal with it. He’s only relevant on the internet now (or a 106 & park countdown LOL)he’s not even a mention in the music industry now lol I honestly didn't see those songs any different from what fresh prince and kid n play was doing back in the day(of course they are way better than these songs but just using a example) .. hell Nelly made a whole career out of that .lol

Yeah, I'm only 20 but what does that have to do with my opinion on hiphop?

Looking at things from a different perspective it really makes no sense for us to be complaining about hiphop because like you said, we have other options and arent limited to one sub-genre of rap.

You can get your Autotuned Lil Wayne or keepit old school with some Organized Konfusion with a click of the mouse.

Luckily Hiphop is still in full swing, there is still good stuff out there to look forward to, its just not as plentiful as it once was.

No, Dr. Dre did in the early 1990s by making the boring slow shit mainstream.

lol

Doing it slow may make it more intense but you can't reach that feeling if you never get it hard. And ain't nothing hard about those soft pounding drum machines. Shit hop is like impotence. evillol

That's true. Trying to reach the widest audience possible in order to make the most money definately weakens the product. I can think of a certain little barbie doll that was well known for that back in the mid 1980s. lol

Nas's N***er was actually better than Hip Hop is Dead and Street Disciples combined. lol Jay-z, I already know your hatre towards him lol , should have just stayed retired, Busta, now that I agree, Snoop hasn't had a real good song in a long time, and Dre is never going to release that album he promised, I don't know why people still hoping for it, it's been how long? 11 years? Really? It takes that long to make an album.

lol And another thing, I hate when people always blame the South for ruining Hip Hop and that wasn't even the case. Some people must have never heard of OutKast (before they went all mainstream), YoungBloodz, Goodie Mob, and Trick Daddy. I guess nevermind these guys.

Oh I fully blame this man:

Hip Hop was alive and kicking until 1997.

In 1997 that little motherfucker launched the downward spiral of Hip Hop, with his watering down and overly commercializing it. Wearing out his welcome as a guest, in appearances of songs by other artists and sampling damn near every hit song ever made, to make his own hit songs. rolleyes

From then on...Hip Hop has been dying a very painful and slow death! disbelief

If I could get Dr. Jack Kervorkian to "assist" it...I damn sure would! lol

Don't forget his popularizing of Hip-Hop/R&B collaborations... disbelief Not all of them were bad, but still, he's the reason why Hip Hop and R&B can no longer be distinguished between the two. lol

I agree. nod

But I'm not calling Lil' Wayne out of being gay OR bi. I'm calling him out of being one of the usual hyporcrites in shit-hop that likes to play that anti-gay hard role, knowing damn good and well that he loves Baby on a down low. F*** him! rolleyes lol

Rumor has it that Lil'Wayne invented the controversial "no homo" catch phrase. It's funny in context on The Boondocks, but THAT phrase is disrespectful according to some that mention it in previous threads.
