^^ QFT. There's really no comparison.
• Did you first think Prince was gay? •
Wendy: He’s a girl, for sure, but he’s not gay. He looked at me like a gay woman would look at another woman. Lisa: Totally. He’s like a fancy lesbian.

Saw a cracking documentary the other week on Live Aid which dealt with most of the issues.
Regarding the lack of MJ, Diana Ross et al at the US show, apparently the major black artists at the time were pretty tight, and if they were going to do something like Live Aid, it was either all of them or none of them...and none of them were interested.
There were real issues about putting together the line up for the US show, mostly due to crazy Bill Graham undermining efforts allegedly (he called alot of artisits up on the sly to tell them not to take part, apparently).
I read that Springsteen was in the middle of his world tour which was why he didn't take part, but most of the stage used at Wembley was his stage as he was in the middle of his Wembley stint (still doesn't explain why he couldn't have appeared for a couple of numbers, as he was in town).
As for Prince, he was just being Prince I suspect and not partaking just to be different....though as someone else said he had "retired" from live performance at the time, post Purple Rain. www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

Queen definitely ruled! They were awesome!!
IMO - I don't think they could pull off something like this today. They would invite unworthy performers to attend and it would be boring. There would be too much crap like Beyonce, Lil Wayne and Beiber just to name a few.
The show 25 years ago had amazing talented artists in attendance. They rocked the place all day and night. The good old days when music was real.
