They were at their MOST versatile form in that label.

My favorite song by them will always be "Yes We Can Can". I remember when they first came out, they were strictly a nostalgia act performing mainly songs from the 40's. In the early 70's, they were like the Black version of The Andrew Sisters. But during the 80's, there wasn't one night spent at the Disco (...okay, by the 80's we'd just call them "Bars", lol) that you didn't hear The Pointer Sisters. They were a big part of the soundtrack to my young adulthood.

Is Yes We Can one of their songs or a cover?

The song was originally recorded as "Yes We Can", by Lee Dorsey on his album Yes We Can, released by Polydor in 1970.

"The Pinball Number Count" song from Sesame Street. For the longest time I had no idea the Pointer Sisters sang it. Just listen those amazing vocals...Old school Sesame Street was hands-down the best!!! lol

I don't believe I knew that either. But yeah, that Old School Sesame Street music can lull me off to dreamland every time! lol The music on that show was so mature, yet the kids always got it.

Wowugotit

I've got my Pointer Sisters music all on CD. Over the past few years there have been several re-issues made available which is great for us Pointer fans. The only CD I am lacking is 1982's "So Excited".

Automatic was my favorite song. The reason being is that I was really young when it came out, and my singing voice was not yet developed, so that low register lead was right up my alley. Not saying that my singing voice is "all of that" now...but I can at least manipulate it much better than I could when I was a kid. Sad that one of the ongoingly troubled sisters died. .

Damn, but I can't forget about "Betcha got a chick on the side". That song was smoooth and HOT!

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

That song is so fresh in my head, and I haven't heard it since I was a kid. But as soon as I read only a few words in your sentence, my mind immediately recalled the voices on that song...and I was like YEAH that was them.

I love that song. But what do you mean "all of the hits"? This thread has barely scratched the surface of those fabulous ladies. The fact that we've gone this far without "I'm So Excited," "Slow Hand," and "Jump (For My Love)" being posted says a lot.

While we're on the topic of their mega-hits, I love what they did with this Springsteen song:

Nightline

Speaking of that gem, isn't it about time someone issued a deluxe edition of Break Out with "Nightline" restored? It could be filled out with extended versions if they wanted to make it 2 CDs.
