Santana Recording Classic Rock Covers Album [img:$uid]http://imgur.com/wtVZw.jpg[/img:$uid]
June 2010
Guitar virtuoso Carlos Santana is at work on a new studio album of classic rock covers, and he’s enlisted the help of Nas, Joe Cocker, Chris Cornell and the Doors’ keyboardist Ray Manzarek for guest spots.
The album features Nas covering AC/DC’s “Back in Black,” Cocker tackling Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” and Chris Cornell getting his Robert Plant on with a rendition of Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love.”

DISAPPOINTING
I'd prefer covers of latin, salsa, jazz or/and obscure blues tracks, but maaaaan: Whole Lotta Love? Little Wing?? Back in Black?? and friggin' Joe Cocker!!??? PLEASE!!!!!!! You can't get more predictable than that...another safe/mainstream album...
That said, I think I'll give it a try...

I'll check it out. I'm sure it will be good, don't think it'll be stellar, but it should be worth a listen. Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

New Santana Album drops September 21st
Carlos and the Band have been in the studio working on a new record for Arista that will drop on September 21, 2010. The album features 13 all-time guitar-centric rock songs chosen by Carlos and Clive Davis, with special guest vocalists on every track. The album was co-produced by Carlos and Clive Davis with tracks produced by Matt Serletic and Howard Benson. Working from their collective encyclopedic knowledge of rock, Carlos and Clive Davis devised a baker’s dozen guitar-centric titles – and then invited a Who’s Who of guest vocalists to perform on every track. Some of the tracks that will appear on the album include: “Whole Lotta Love” featuring Chris Cornell, “Can’t You Hear Me Knockin’” featuring Scott Weiland, “Photograph” featuring Chris Daughtry and “Bang A Gong” featuring Gavin Rossdale.

This doesn't excite me as much I wish it did, but I love Carlos, so I know I will be buying this and will listen with an open mind. Going to see him again in concert on July 11 - can't wait for that. He always puts on an amazing high energy show.

I love Santana... hopefully this album will be a great introduction to rock for me. I need a rock for dummies guidebook Also I'm glad Rob Thomas, Daughtry and Creed are on it... I love their voices despite not caring for most of their material. David Cook would have been another choice and that Foo Fighter singer. Hell even Stone Temple Pilots singer would work. Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND Chaka Khan = FIRE Sade = WATER the ELEMENTS of MUSIC

"Can't You Hear Me Knocking?" ..cool choice. There was a rumour for a long time that Carlos played the original solo uncredited. I think Mick Taylor played it.
"Dance The Night Away" should be interesting. I always thought that song had a Latin feel to it.
I'm sure if this sells real well he'll do another one.

this is basically another attempt at Sales and another "supernatural", this is basically like Manilow making all those "sings hits of the _____" different decade cds he has done, ironically also orchestrated by Clive Davis. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
