I do. I always loved "Stay." While that was their only hit here in America, the group was wildly successful in the UK. They also recorded the original version of "Angel of Mine," which became a huge hit for Monica here.

my favourite album of theirs .... i think.

File:Eternal Power of a Woman.jpg

and i still LOVE LOUISE! someone dubbed her Kylie-Light lol

she's been working on new tracks, and hopefully an album by years end pray

Kelle's solo efforts were bland to me. and Vernie's & Esther's last album had a couple good moments but nothing memorable IMO.

anyway. lol...yes. i remember Eternal and stil enjoy them. biggrin

hammer Shayne married Easther edit..

And don't you know when Louise left the group to pursue a solo career (which she had decent success with), people started yelling "RACISM" because she was the only white girl in the group. Folks accused their label, management and otherwise of trying to appeal to the R&B audience more, and apparently a white girl was going to hinder their efforts. rolleyes

The whole reason they were formed was because of the success of En Vogue, and they wanted to get in on that four-girl-singing-R&B type thing at the time. They were just as good as a threesome (as was SWV, TLC, Brownstone, and even Expose a few years earlier). I love "Stay" though.

here's the information from Wikipedia..

"Angel of Mine" is an R&B ballad written by Rhett Lawrence and Travon Potts, produced by Rhett Lawrence for British R&B girl group Eternal's Greatest Hits album in 1997. The song became the group's fourteenth top ten hit on the UK singles chart peaking at #4 and spent a total of 13 weeks in the chart, helping their Greatest Hits album go three times platinum [2]. "Angel of Mine" was the group's final single as a three-piece as after the release of Angel of Mine, Kéllé Bryan left the group.

The song was a number four hit in the UK, selling over 200,000 copies, becoming one of the groups highest selling singles. "Angel of Mine" was also successful in many European countries and other parts of the world, charting in around ten countries.

The song came to American fame when R&B singer Monica covered the song (with altered lyrics) and released it as the third single from her second studio album The Boy Is Mine (1998), following the successful chart performances of previous single "The First Night," the song reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The music video was directed by Diane Martel, known for her work for Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, Ciara, Christina Aguilera, among others. The video also features Tyrese as Monica's love interest. The music video was included on Channel Max's Top 100 Sexy Women.

"Angel of Mine" was one of Monica's biggest worldwide successes, reaching number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks charts. It, however, became Monica's fifth domestic top 10 hit of her career and her third number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. "Angel of Mine" was ranked three on the Hot 100 1999 year-end charts. The song also peaked within the top ten in Canada, the top 20 in Australia, the top 30 in Germany, and the top 40 in New Zealand.

Eternal was an English R&B girl group formed in 1992. The group featured two sisters Easther (born 11 December 1972) and Vernie Bennett (born 17 May 1971) and their friends Kéllé Bryan and Louise Nurding and went on to become one of the United Kingdom's most successful girl groups, achieving both domestic and international success.

The group achieved fifteen Top 20 hits in the United Kingdom between 1993-1999, the first of which ("Stay") was also a Top 20 hit in the United States during the 1990s. Eternal have sold about 10 million records.[1]

I liked Monica's Angel of Mine a lot when it came out but after awhile it was overexposed and sounded plastic to me though there was something good about it too. Then I heard it was a remake back then and forgot about it. Just heard this version here and THAT'S what it was, I love Eternal's so much more. Better and more soulful vocals and everything
