Songs that move you So I just bought Loreena McKennitt's CD "The Book of Secrets," and I've discovered that one track on it really moves me (Dante's Prayer). From my interpretation, it's loosely based on Dante's "Divine Comedy," and is Dante asking the listener to offer a prayer for him through his journey. The song is a bit melancholy, and contains a couple of samples from the St. Petersburg Chamber Choir (the entire album is absolutely excellent, by the way).
Are there songs that move you? I'm not necessarily talking ones that make you a blubbering mass, but ones that kinda give you that feeling?

The first one that comes to mind is Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me".
Prince and George Michael didn't capture that heartache the same way for me....

Never Dreamed You'd Leave in Summer by Stevie Wonder is such a damn sad song anyways, and it's always bought the water works, but now that it's connected to Michael Jackson's death....
That and Superwoman, Girl Blue, You and I...and thats just off the top of my head.
I've been in Stevie-mode lately.

Couldn't find the original but hot damn do these three ladies do this song justice. A truly under appreciated addition to the American songbook. Space for sale...

I wanna agree with you on this, but knowing you, you're probably being sarcastic about it I prefer this version over the original though.
Gladys was singing her heart out for her late son. I didn't even know it was a tribute to her son untill I read Chaka's book. [Edited 7/7/10 3:25am]

I was being sincere. What in the world was this performance from? The woman in the audience were losing it. Knowing that Glady's son passed on prior to this performance made me lose it when I re-watched it. My face is soaked right now. Space for sale...

Essence awards.
The performance was a tribute to the mothers who lost their children that year(1998 or 97) I'm not sure. Pac and Biggie's moms are in the audience as well.
Its def a special moment..

Funk and disco moves my ass, slow jams from the 1970s and early 1980s moves my dick, and shit hop and adult contemporary moves my bowels. Andy is a four letter word.
