I saw them on their reunion tour back in the 90s, and I just learned how to play this song on the guitar:

Animalize also was there most rocking album IMO

I actually really dislike the band.

However, I've been seeing "tears are falling" from their unmasked years like ALL FRIGGEN DAY for some reason.

God knows, I tried to take them seriously.....

I like some of their songs though(esp from the Love Child album) but the bulk of their stuff still remain hit & miss to me.

Loooove me the hottest band in the world. KISS!!! They were my #1 musical love for years till a skinny mf with a high voice from Minneapolis came along and changed that.

But KISS is still #2 on my all time list. I have seen them 14 times from 1979-1995 (I didn't go for the reunion years).

In retrospect, I love all KISS eras but the first six albums are great. 80s KISS is also very strong, athough there was so much competition with bigger more successful bands (Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake) that sometimes it was just awkward for KISS.

^not sure what the Love Child album is supposed to be. Love Gun perhaps?

I think their chartered plane should've disappeared in the Bermuda Triangle around '79 or '80, that would've been just perfect. Then we could have lots of conspiracy theories, instead of everything they did starting with 'Lick It Up'

That's true; Lick It Up at least spawned one of the weirdest guitar heroes of all time!

I'm surprised that you don't like Lick It Up anyway hmph! ; make-up or not, it's still one of the band's best albums...cool and it's my fifth favourite LP of the band... nod

The first time they came to Spain (European tour for promotion of Creatures of the Night, late 1982) they did this tv show my elder brother and I happened to watch at that moment, they played I Love It Loud, and at the end of the song my bro became an fan, he was 12 back then... Funny he's been a fan of Gene Simmons for years - now he can't stand the guy lol

Funny too that this show was on 28th November, and in early December Ace Frehley left the band/was kicked out. sad

[My fave is Paul Stanley too wink ]

KISS is one of those bands that you respect for what they did to the genre but the flamboyance always outweighed the music. I do like some of their music though. "Detroit Rock City", "Firehouse", "Rock & Roll All Night", etc. But they've have done some songs that have me like confused lol

I'm not really all that familiar with their stuff, besides the hits

and I gotta admit that Lick It Up is a good song.

But the whole unmasking thing, though necessary for their survival (and the continuation of Gene's strip mining of rock n' roll mystique) just kinda...sucked I guess.

What KISS did in 1983 further damaged whatever legacy they were building with the get-ups. lol I mean damn in the late 1970s they did a sucky movie, had toys out and did that disco record? I usually dig disco but not that song they did. "I Was Made for Loving You" oh come on! lol KISS' best stuff was between 1973 and 1977 or whatever.

Hell it wasn't even the same "KISS" that unmasked. Two of the original members had been left the group for about four years when they unmasked lol

KISS was an absolutely incredible visionary creation and concept. And fantastic band with great songwriting. But after Peter Criss left in 1980, the band should have broken up, cause it was never the same. But instead they rode their incredible creation into the ground and drained it of what made it so special.

Which is why, unfortunately, they do not get the credit and respect they deserved.

Their were so visually spectacular, but at the core they were just a mean, kick ass, down and dirty street band. Because all of them, (except for maybe Gene) were exactly that, a bunch of tough New York City street kids with thick New York accents.

But at the time, rock music had been overblown to a form of pretentious minded art, because of British bands like Queen and Led Zepplin, etc.

Which is why "Destroyer" is the only album of theirs, critics liked. That was their "art rock" album.

But they werent about that. THey were instead, something like the rock equivalent of a funk band.

All about the DEEP down and dirty groove and all about fun.
