Why Can't I Post Embedded Videos? It hasn't worked for me since this upgraded or whatever. I'm putting the url [youtube:X][/youtube:X] and nothing.
Am I doing somethin wrong? | |

I can do it, like LittleBLUECorvette said, take off the x's. | |

Take off the semicolon and X's both, of course.
---------------------------------- Also, when you cut and paste a URL, sometimes it's just text, sometimes it's a link. The problem lies in that the "linky" part of the URL has to be removed. How do you do that?
Click your cursor anywhere within the link, then click the "broken chain" link in the editing area (to the left of the A above). That will remove the "link" and make the text URL of www.whatever.com UNlinked. So it'll look like www.whatever.com (just text) instead of www.whatever.com (a link)
It should NOT look like [ youtube]http://www.youtube.com/wa...aAg_ll28FE[/ yoube] But rather: [ youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aAg_ll28FE[/ yoube]
---------------------------------- There's an even shorter way to post a video.
A YouTube link looks like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aAg_ll28FE
See the part after the watch?v= That's all you need really. Those series of numbers, letters, and characters (that can sometimes include an underscore or a h-y-p-h-e-n) are what identifies the video itself. That's all you really need.
Just put that between the YouTube code, like this (removing the periods of course) [.youtube]4aAg_ll28FE[/.youtube]
---------------------------------- Side note about the above:
Sometimes the URL will look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aAg_ll28FE&playnext_from=TL&videos=2FaWuGnqKQE&feature=sub
Really messy. Find the part I bolded, between the equal sign (=)and the AND symbol (&), and that's the part you need.
In short, don't use any formatting like bold or italics and make sure it's not a link, and you'll be fine. | |

I'm thinking it depends on browsers, because I copy the link all the time on Firefox but it's usually from the video's link address itself as the video is playing. But other browsers may automatically have it as a link. Yeah I'm with Ernest on this one, how do y'all make it "link"? lol | |

I'm guessing it's the browser. | |

I've used Firefox, Flock (currently), Safari, and IE. What I typed is more about the editing software on the Org now, not the browser.
I laid it all out above on how to embed a YouTube vid properly, and side step the hiccups that happen(s) at times. | |

I guess the board can be funny but I've been able to do what I did before the forum changes lol so I can't speak for anyone. | |

Works for me! I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart. | |

I haven't been able to post embedded video since the upgrade, either. Why make things so complicated? The old way was so much easier. I'm old. It's hard for me to learn all of this new, fancy stuff. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

It's actually the way it's always been. Nothing changed except for the "making sure it's not a link" part. The BBC code is still the same as it ever was. | |

Yeah, I also struggle with things I didn´t have problems prior to the org "improvement". I wish there was a tool for posting videos as there is for posting pictures. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all." | |

SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT this ain't fancy.
I guess it depends on how people are doing it. I can still put the YouTube tags with the video URL and it'll go through without it being a "link". But I guess some of us have figured it out. IDK. | |

I´ve read it, thanks. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all." | |

lol I wasn't tryin' to be nasty or anything, just FYI. I just wanted to state that the code is still the same. There's just a little hiccup in the process now.
Actually, Ben addressed this on a thread here : http://prince.org/msg/3/337360
There is also a thread here citing the same issue: http://prince.org/msg/3/337527
Check the Ben thread though. I'm only mirroring what he's already noted. Dude's smart though. I'm but a humble minion. hehehe | |
