Fenwick

Interesting suggestions so far. I admit to not knowing Umbrella or a few others, but I think I'd have to reluctantly agree with Rehab.

I admit Amy has a fabulous voice, and the song is clearly catchy, but I don't really see the tune as extremely original. (I know that's not a prerequisite for pop music).

I also think that Jamiroquai song is brilliant too.

Back to the matter at hand, Hey Ya has a little time signature quirk in it that keeps it a little left of center. I always like when songs throw curveballs like that into the mix and they fit the song perfectly. Although to this point my strong preference is Hey Ya, I do agree that Rehab deserves a nod.

Ladies and gentlemen, the only person in the entire world who hasn't heard "Umbrella"! lol

Seriously, how in the world did you escape this song?

As far as I'm concerned, the true brilliance of the song is the way she pronounces it "um-ber-ella." smile

I honestly think there is something brilliant about the line "when the sun shines we'll shine together" he song is veryu well written and lyrically quite a change from your average top 40 song.

Popular song? I'd have to think about it. POP song?

VERY well written.

now there is one co-signed by my crazy 46yo ex-housemate who only liked 70s music. i recognize its value.

what year was it?

2007 This song can go in any era. All real instruments, so there's no musical trend being followed that would time stamp it. Clever lyrics and a good hook and melody; all elements of a great pop song.

Another song that's pretty good is

but a lot of people can't see past the name attached to it. As a pop song, its excellent.

Maybe it was just locally, but I heard "I Gotta Feeling" EVERYWHERE. Good thing I love that song.

I still play pokemon. I play warcraft. And I'm awesome.

Forget the fake accent...the shameless rip-off that this song is (of "I'm Yours") renders it ineligible. "I'm Yours" would be a worthy candidate, however.

Still, for my money, it's gotta be P!nk. So many choices, but my two picks are: Sober (this one especially) and So What.
