Wow, this is a pretty new interview. Is it me or is Janet sounding more and more like Michael with each interview? She also sounds a little like Latoya.

Janet is always polite. I don't always think that she's "geniune"...but I like her.

I agree, Janet looks very very pretty in this inerview. The other lady is also a good looking woman but when they cut from one to the other it somehow makes the other lady look like a hedious moster. lol

I think you need to get a grip, and respect yourself and stop going out like a sucker! Regardless of whether the body suit is flesh tone or not, Janet has been more and more revealing as she has begun to age. It has nothing to do with "hating"...it's an observation. Grow up!

And the "attendees not knowing what she was going to wear" has absolutely nothing to do about it....notice how everyone on this forum is talking about it. I think that it is YOU who is the troll.

What is your point? Oh, you don't have one! Just another pathetic troll. Go back to your hole!

and it has everything to do with the attendees not knowing, stupid. No one knew she what she was going to wear. Therefore, they had no way of knowing she was going to wear revealing clothing to "jumpstart" a career. As if a 44 year old wearing a leotard will win the hearts of many. falloff

She's just being herself. So I suggest you take your own advice and get a grip, prude.

Janets "Again" rips off Jam/Lewis' own "helplessly in love" (one of my fav N.E tracks). Its not a complete carbon copy, but the "vibe" of the song is definately the same.

It appears that the "vibe" of that song has been floating around for quite sometime now. Don't forget the Force MD's "Tender Love". Perhaps Jam and Lewis sold variations of that song to different artists. I really don't know.

Helplessly in Love is more Tender Love than Again. Of course, it helps that Jam and Lewis produced all three songs...

"Rips off" is just a lame term someone came up with. However, the facts are these:

"Helplessly in Love" (from Dragnet)
Performed by New Edition
Written by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis
Produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for Flyte Time Productions Inc.
New Edition appears courtesy of MCA Records

"Again" (from janet.; in the movie Poetic Justice, but not on the soundtrack)
Written by Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam (as James Harris III) and Terry Lewis
Produced by Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Janet Jackson
Performed by Janet Jackson
Courtesy of Virgin Records, Limited

And frankly it sounds nothing like "Again". Folks are right with the Force MD's "Tender Love" comparisons.

But wait, look at this:

"Tender Love" (from Chillin'; in the movie Krush Groove, and on the soundtrack)
Performed by Force M.D.'s
Written by Jimmy Jam (as James Harris III) and Terry Lewis

So before we got slamming Janet Jackson, let's look at the real influence here. Jam and Lewis wrote all three of those songs, with N.E. and Force being relatively closer in time (1985/1987), whereas the janet. song was from 1993 (album released May 1993, which means the song was probably recorded very early 1993, or later in 1992, a good five years after the N.E. track was produced).

Unfortunately when older women want to "jump start", or just hang on to the remaining career that they have left, they oftentimes feel that there is no other option but to take off more clothes. Kinda sad in my opinion...but it happens nonetheless.

nod Jam & Lewis had a great formula so anyone who recorded with them got the same treatment (hell look at their collaborations with Sounds of Blackness and Patti LaBelle, their songs were also quite similar).

Yeah, people work with producers because, a lot of times, they're looking for a sound, a vibe, or whatever. But on the other side of that coin, a good producer can meld their style with the artist in question. Good example would be Jam/Lewis working with Human League. Sure it was a Jam/Lewis production, but a lot of those songs, not all, were already written and they felt a bit lost in putting it all together. They called up Jam/Lewis and they helped put it together for them.

Jam and Lewis were hot back then, and people knew their updated Minneapolis type sound, and wanted it. Whether than was Force MDs, Janet, or New Edition.

Another example: Pharrell - LOTTA his shit sounds the same, but Madonna and whoever else wanted it so they got it. Rodney Jerkins. MJ and Justin Timberlake songs sound a lot alike - same producer wrote them.

So no one is "ripping off" anyone, I agree. I think it's an ode to the producer themselves to have people know their music, despite the artist performing it.

Ridiculous statement there, I'm afriad. Aguilera, Spears, and a ton of others have been damn near showing their hatchetwounds from their early 20's, talking about how "this is the real" them.

Janet doesn't have to say that. This IS just her. She's been being sexy for years, son. Girl was singing about blowjobs in 1993. She was singing about BDSM and 3-ways with another guy and girl in 1997, all while showing off her pierced nipple THROUGH her clothing. You think anyone was surprised when her nip was pierced at the Superbowl? Hell no, fans knew. Wasn't nothin' but a thang.

Janet's hot, and she is comfortable in her own skin. It happens in your 40's, trust me. I'm more comfortable now being me than I've ever been.

What exactly is she trying to jump start? Her film career? Last I heard it was going great. Her music career. See film career. She's also not working on an album right now, by her own words, so nothing really to "jump start" there; so that theory is bogus too.

Girl is 44, and you're acting like she's 88. Fuck, Betty White is 88, and hot as a fire cracker right now. I guess she's trying to jump start something from her Golden Girl years, huh? Or was it her Mary Tyler Moore years? Or was it her......oh fuck it. I can't be bothered anymore.

Janet's musical career has been declining for some time. The albums that were dropped over the last few years garnered some criticism. As a matter of fact some would argue that she was on the decline prior to the whole "nipple-gate" thing. Hey, this is something that I've noticed occurring with many artists who reach a certain age. Nobody has to agree, it is my observation.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Her lowest-selling post-Control album "only" sold 450k off the back of one single - and was a #1 album. Which is a hell of a lot better than many of her contemporaries have done.

None of Janet's studio albums since 1986 have missed the Top 2.

everybody's commercial success declines eventually. prior to nipplegate she had a number 1 album, number 1 singles ,successful tour, awards, tributes, and she was asked to perform at the superbowl, how is that a decline? of course you have your opinions but i think it would be more valid if the woman was actually trying to promote a new album. they wanted her to perform, she basically did a revamped version of her RWU show that alot of people didnt get a chance to see.the segment of the show that for some reason has everybody up in arms all of a sudden happens to be a fan favorite and janet said long as the fans want her to do she's gonna keep doing it. i think she should worry about pleasing her fans more then people who dont like her or ever bought a ticket to see her.

Again my mistake. I knew Jam/Lewis produced all 3 songs, but for some reason i thought Janet wrote "again" by herself, meaning she was deliberately copying her producers/co-songwriters. Quite why I thought that indicates to me how often I listen to "Janet." (i.e very rarely). Honestly, I knew the Jam/Lewis connection LOL.

Most, if not all popular producers/songwriters who work alot in a relatively small time frame are bound have some samey work in their catalogue, so I see your point.
