I wasn't comparing the out put and or any other talent attributes that Prince has....

It comes down to the music...the sound and feeling when all is said and done.

D'Angelo was 25-26 years old when he put out his last album.

Do you really wanna compare the music D'Angelo was making at 26 to the music Prince was making at 26???

Most of THAT^ is f***ing whack! disbelief lol

THIS is real Prince clone:

The band is Private. The band leader is Thomas Troelsen. He's pretty good in sounding like Prince OR Michael with ease.

Van Hunt is definitely the dark horse running. He has the vocals, the style, the talent, the charisma of a young Prince. His career is one to watch.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Seriously The Dream wants to be Prince so bad he probably prays to a vinyl copy of Purple Rain everynight and twice on Sundays.
People in hell want ice water too.

Ain't gonna happen!

Nice job bagging Christina Milian though

Im sure some of these artists are tired of being compared to Prince, they will never chalenge the artist that is Prince ... Do they make "prince music" ?

Van Hunt : clearly he is, although he remind me more of Sly ...

Maxwell : Im not going to pretend that I don't see where this come from ; he had one of the best "prince sounding" song of last year (Stop The World) and I can see him go further in that direction

D'angelo : Clearly trired about the Prince comparaison, this shit has done him more bad than good, I don't see him trying to chalenge Prince sound anymore.

Justin Timberlake : Well Im curious to hear his new material, apparently he really wanted to sound like Prince and MJ with the last one, Im sure the next one will be completely different.

Bilal : You know what's funny, I've never heard him talk about Prince, Im not even sure Prince is one of his fav artist. He had those 2 songs that sound like Prince track on his first album "For You" and "Slyde" but I think he's done with that sound. Love For Sale was not Prince-inspired at all and Im sure he wish people would stop to compare him with Prince.

I think Green Velvet stole Prince's funk mojo and never gave it back. GB is also my proof to all those lazy orgers who keep complaining about sh*t hop and sh*tney houston. There is real music out there. Just get off your lazy arses and find it.

How about respecting these artists for their own work rather than trying to attribute their musical expressions indirectly to someone else?

I don't think ANYBODY does Prince better than Prince, although I liked Cyndi Lauper's version of "WHen U were Mine" better than his boxed

BUt I want to say that I just listened to Robin Thicke for the first time yesterday lol.

The album was "The Evolution of Robin Thicke" and let me tell you.... it was dreadful.

When that boy starts talking about sexing his woman and wanting to do things to her body, it comes accross as absolutely hilarious and almost Michael Jacksonesque in it's 'fantasy vs reality' vibe. That's not to say Mr. THicke doesn't get loads of poonani--just that it comes accross more dorky than sexy. It was just dreadful.

I absolutely fluctuated between cringing and laughing my damned ass off!

Just... no, no, no. Robin does NOT do Prince better than Prince.

Bullshit.

D'Angelo has done fuck all in years. Has nowhere near the legacy.

Justin Timberlake, invalidates the whole of your list in my opinion. How you can seriously suggest that this ex-boy-band copy-cat is superior to Prince is beyond me. It is akin to claiming Timbaland is a better producer than Quincy Jones. Or that Madonna is a better guitar-player than Jimi Hendrix.

Robin Thicke and Bilal are so-so. Nothing memorable or amazing.

Maxwell is talented, but here again, is the major fault of your argument; he is brilliant strictly within soul music.

Prince is and never has been a soul singer. His music is much more eclectic. Tell me how many of the Artists above cover the range of styles that Prince does? How many have released an album comparable to 'Sign 'O' Times'.

Are any of those Artists capable of making 'Parade'? 'Around the World in a Day'?

How many of these are multi-instrumentalists? How many albums have they released?

Van Hunt is amazing, the closest to genius, but not really in relation to Prince. Prince is in a different category when properly considering his recording history.

Again, Justin Timberlake? What the fuck ... eek
