Your Ultimate Guilty Pleasure Band's/Artist's

Ok so, I Have a love of music from many different genres from blues to Hip hop To country to Classical, but there's a few band's i love but i am almost embarrassed to admit it=0

We all have them wink

Mine are

1. Dead or Alive- There first 4 albums are pure 80's gold and camp, I'm surprised they weren't bigger!, But the song's can be very campy and the videos ahahahah there definitely a Guilty pleasure, From Pete Burns infamous eye patch to him inside a giant clam. Or flossing himself while ton's of guys jumping over a fence try to get to him.

2. Samantha Fox- She doesn't have a great voice but it work's! there's something about her that i just find so cool, But she's definitely more famous for her look's then talent, But i crank her stuff every know and again biggrin

3. Taylor Dayne- She actually does possess a great voice!, But a lot of her song's are so bubblegum i have been when i was younger embarrassed to admitting liking her eek

4. Wham!- It took me awhile to admit i liked the band, I loved George Solo but the cheesiness of ''Go-Go'' used to make me detest them. I Eventually started liking the song for it's fun nature lol and bought the Make It Big album and the rest is history wink

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I don't mean to avoid the question, really. But for me this doesn't exist. If I like some music I just like it, period. Don't even care what anybody else thinks about it. If I did I would have stopped loving Prince's music 20 years ago. lol I love Wham, too, btw. nod

ahaahah

Well, it's not really what people think lol, But what i mean is when you say you like a certain band or play a song by them they laugh or say that's so gay or w/e lol

Wham! isn't as bad as i thought turns out a lot of people actually like them whether they admit or not=]

Now, when i show Anyone a Dead Or Alive song or video it always inspired laughter haha

Hmm....well, some might class Bon Jovi as a guilty pleasure, but not me...

...Mariah Carey is probably the one I never own up to, but I love her early stuff! smile

I also think Goldie Lookin' Chain are genius!

Why's "Father Figure" gotta be a guilty pleasure? Fuck the dumb shit people said about his being gay and the bathroom thing, George Michael was the Justin Timberlake of the 80's and made some great music with Wham! and solo.

While George is wayyyyyyyyy above Timberlake i can kind of see what they mean with this statement.

Went from what was thought of at the time as ''teen idol'' band [Although Wham! is much better then Nsycn, Nsync never had a song that matched Careless Whisper]

Then went off to a solo career that was huge and the other member or members solo careers where less then average.

So yes in many way's this is kind of true

Nirvana: well, the suicide, the angst lyrics, etc. I mean, the songs are still perfectly crafted, but being a 25 years old man, I feel guilty, I shouldn't like this stuff anymore lol

Bjork: she surely was respected back in the 90s, but now she has that aura of a "has been"; his 00s albums disappointed me confused On top of that, many of her videos are embarrassing, that's a personal opinion, of course.

Radiohead: nah, just personal opinion here. They represent everything I hate about modern rock, but for some reason, I dig many of their songs...

Bjork hasn't fallen off one bit. She's still got a huge number of insanely hardcore, die-hard fans all around the world (I am one). The mainstream just stopped paying attention, which is fine. She now has the freedom to do whatever she wants without any pressure.

I will say again, Bjork has not fallen off one bit. She just refuses to make the same album twice and that's what most people want. All her albums are great. ... my opinion, of course. lol

I'll agree with Cerebus. "Guilty pleasure" implies dishonor or shame in what you listen to. If music, any music, moves you - what's to hide? Sure we'll disagree on what moves and what doesn't, but it's always ultimately up the listener. I love Nsync. No other boy bands like that - just Nsync. Call it a guilty pleasure, bad taste, or whatever, but I like them. It was just pure pop that was enjoyable. Cheese? Okay well cut me off a big ass pile of provolone then.

Guilty pleasure? Nah. Different than some others? Sure.

Prince - I keep most of his cd's strategically hidden behind my merengue collection

Culture Club - Need I say why?

Hall & Oats - I still have moments when I like to go back to the 80's and just stay there for hours

Menudo - Their songs were so cheesy but good at the same time... i can't help it

Change it one more time..

Yeah you should say why Culture Club is a guilty pleasure. Same with Hall & Oates.

People seem to mock Hall & Oats and idk why... The guys where excellent jazz musicians and where great musicians, I Guess people think they made cheesy love song's which is the image they get it a lot sadly.

As for Culture Club it may be the same thing with George Michael, The ''GAY'' thing while i can usually get a lot of people to admit they like at least one Michael song they have to throw in he's gay every time like it really matters.

Same with Boy George, i Like culture Club but some people can't look past the fact Boy George is gay to just like the damn music. This always happens with Elton John who i am also a big fan of! but most people i know love rocket man or Tiny Dancer even though they say hate Elton.

Anyway's i'm 19 so you know this is what i notice from younger people could be different for older

Culture Club for the sheer boldness of their outness at the time... Which for me, being raised in an hispanic household.... it was like, you wouldnt even look at something like that, nevertheless bring home an album like this... So I guess its just remnants of that legacy.

Hall & Oats because people never really give them their due. I loved their music when i was a kid, but if I were to play it now when company was over, people would like "eeeh, wtf are u listening to?'

Change it one more time..

Like Cerebus, I don't really have any. If you're going to like something, why be embarassed about it?

That said, I've been told I should probably be embarassed about still liking Backstreet Boys. lol

What can I say? BSB fans are lifers. Unlike other boybands who disappear after a few short years they surprised everyone (including themselves) by be able to stick around. As of this past April, they've been together as a boyband for 17 years with the departure of former member Kevin Richardson a few years ago as the only real blip so far.

They're just finishing up the final leg of a nearly sold-out world tour. They're still playing huge venues like stadiums, including 3 sold out back to back shows at the O2.

What's more, they're scheduled to hit the studio again this fall. Their contract with Jive has been fulfilled and they're financing the next album themselves so this will be, in effect, the world's first indie boyband release ever. Crazy. I'm interested as shit to see what a group like them can come up with when they have no one to answer to.

In their own words, "We plan on being here for the long haul. We just enjoy annoying people who wish we'd go away." biggrin
