People could say the same thing about Prince. The point is that people will want to hear from them, as you can see in a small sampling from the positive replies in this thread. You can also see it from Mo'nique herself, and her audience singing along to both songs SWV were singing. Why do some groups get a time stamp and others don't? Seems a bit two-faced of fans to think that way. SWV can still sing a hole in a wall. Coco sings gospel, and they all obviously still have the same wonderful voices they always had, so why not? Who is anyone to put a limit on someone else's time or efforts? I'm anxious to hear new music from them.

If they were S W/O V in 2010 I might agree. SWV is an example of a musical act whose performing talent did not erode over time.

And their appearance on The Mo'Nique Show proved that to a hilt.

I loved them so much as a teenager, I used to have the new beginning album and spent my last $20 on it and then I had their third album but only liked the first half, especially Rain. But now, Right Here/Human Nature is my favourite of theirs ever, I can play that on repeat and sing along for a long time. I could have sworn they reunited a few years ago and toured with blackstreet at casinos, or am I thinking of someone else?

It's good to see some of these groups back together again, and making great music, and still have the voices to do so.
Let the naysayers not forget that SWV stood for Sisters With Voices, PRESENT TENSE!!!!!

And the flat out truth is they're 100x better than 99% of what is on radio today. Let's see
"Right Here/Human Nature" vs. "Rude Boy". SWV FTW. (I actually had to google what her latest
"Weak" vs. "Not Myself Tonight". SWV FTW
"Downtown" vs "Happy". SWV FTW

I would take some of the hip hop feature album cuts from Release Some Tension over a lot of the rap hits that are getting over on sorta-sung hooks on the radio too (Young Money!)

DAMN!! Coko can still Ba-LOW! Still one of my favorite singers ever.

You know she had a solo album, called Hot Coko, right?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yea...there's some good cuts on there. I really liked her second album tho, Grateful, which was gospel. I played that shit to death and still play it. Her subsequent EP and 3rd full-length album (both gospel) were really disappointing compared to Grateful. But whatever way you slice it, I want more music. That woman deserves to have 10 albums right now.
