Iceland Inspires concert/webcast

Since no-one has started a thread about this concert, I thought I'd mention that a live webcast from the Iceland Inspires open air concert, a special free concert held as a part of a special tourist campaign to promote Iceland as a cool and safe tourist spot after the recent volcanic eruption in Eyjafjallajökull had caused cancellations in booked trips to the country, just started now at 8:00 PM GMT (4 PM EST, 10 PM CET).

The concert was supposed to be at a waterfall not far away from the infamous Eyjafjallajökull glacier, but due to harsh weather conditions the concert was moved to the Reykjavik Music Pavillion Park.

The weather isn't very nice here either, which explains why I didn't bother to go to the concert, but I'll be watching the webcast at home... here's the line-up for those who are interested (all times are GMT):

20:00 - Amiina

20:15 - Steindór Andersen

20:30 - Hafdís Huld (former member of Gus Gus)

20:45 - Dikta (rock band - really popular group in Iceland)

21:00 - Mammút

21:20 - Seabear

21:40 - Damien Rice (Irish singer/songwriter - a frequent visitor in Iceland)

21:50 - Lay Low

22:05 - Pondus

22:20 - Glen Hansard

22:40 - Parabólur

22:50 - Spiritualized (English space-rockband)

You can watch the concert here live: http://www.inspiredbyiceland.com

The band on now, Dikta, is the reason I'm watching the webcast. Great band!

It's a pity though that the webcast is having some audio/video sync problems...

I think that was the band Mammút.. I'm not sure because I wasn't watching at that time...

I'm looking forward to seeing Damien Rice, as I've heard so much about him but never really checked him out. Seabear is on right now.. one song more with them before Damien Rice.

ok

cool

Damien Rice is great i think

It requires a certain mood though

It's not exactly cheerful music

He was just now singing a lullaby in Icelandic called "Sofðu unga ástin mín" (Sleep my young dear) biggrin

A very unusual cover, but it worked really well.

Hmmm. Looks like I missed most of it but can re-watch those who have previously performed. cool Cool. Love Iceland and a lot of the music that's come from there. But it's not complete without the Bjork. biggrin

the lullaby is not part of Damien's set though, but he joined in with Glen Hansard in the second half of his set. All the performances can now be streamed from the site.
