Does anyone "get" the Ice T / Coco Marriage?

I am just so not understanding the marriage between Ice T and Coco. I mean it seems like some sort of a "fantasy-land" marriage or something. Dude is proudly parading this scantly clad voluptuous woman around who dresses like a stripper as if she's the best thing since sliced bread. She is ALWAYS seen in public scantly clad and in my opinion - looking pretty tasteless. I mean who would want their wife showing all of "her goodies" to everybody? So I'm looking at the television and Iced T's wife is filmed in a thong bikini with T at the beach sounding as air-headish as a Playboy Playmate.

I just "figured" that Ice T would have some degree of substance however gangster that substance might be. I just don't understand the whole Coco thing...they just seem a bit "uneven". Maybe he's still caught up in the illusion that he's some sort of a pimp. I heard him many years back referring to his little son as a "pimp" and the son's mother as a "hoe". He said that "Everybody in this crib is either a Pimp or a Hoe". There's absolutely nothing wrong with having an attractive wife, but this one here...I just don't get it.

Coco

He's a wanna be pimp, she's a fake ho, what's not to understand. If they like it, I love it.

He pimped his first wife half nekkid on an album cover! That's how he's always been.

I've seen an interview with his first wife (that's the one he called a hoe on tv), but I didn't see the album cover. I'll google it. I was just looking online and I came across an article stating that Iced T was 52 years old. I had no idea he was that age. I thought he was in his 40's. Coco is 31. Midlife crisis marriage...biggrin

Other peoples' relationships are not for you to "get"; its for them to live.

Reality television & the internet has given the American public such an overdeveloped sense of entitlement.

They seem happy; be happy for them and keep your own fires burning at home and all will be well.

Wow, and I guess when one flosses their half naked wife around like a trophy, nobody should take notice or have any questions or discussions because you say so. If he wanted nobody to take notice he would not be flossing her around like he has been doing for the last 5 or so years. When people "take notice" conversations happen, and oftentimes questions are asked....just so that you know. wink

I will always ask questions, perhaps I won't always get or understand the answers but will never stop me from inquiring just because you or anybody else feels that I need not inquire. I don't feel "entitled" to anything.

Not excluding Coco from her sins, but Ice-T's ex-girlfriend Darlene Ortiz was (STILL IS) freaky in her own right.

Yeah, It's just that he was not as "mainstream" back then when he was with Darlene Ortiz, so most folks probably have never seen him flossing her sexuality around like the way that he is now doing with this wife Coco. Not saying that it didn't happen....just not as many paparazzi shots.

I find it strange that he grabs her boobs and pussy on stage while his son ( Little Ice, from his relationship with Darlene Ortiz) is on the same stage at the same time ( as seen in Hamburg).

Other than that, I don´t care what their relationship is based on since anything is possible these days, and that´s something we should all cherish.

However, I found Darlene much more likeable, down to earth, prettier and sexier and kind of a "go through the thick and the thin" type of woman, a true lady with a lot of class. She was there for him before he became famous and while he was still involved in petty crimes and robberies and stuff. She was also there for him when he crashed his Porsche before he had his major record deal, and there were times when she also supported him financially. And she still looks hot, considering that more than 20 years have passed between these two photo shoots.

Back in 1987, on the album cover of Ice-T´s very underrated and brilliant debut album Rhyme Pays:

On the infamous "Power " album cover:

Ice-T is very underrated as a rapper and a lot of people, including himself, love to neglect the fact that , behind all the stage pimp persona, he was one of the true pioneers of old school Hip Hop. He was part of the Zulu Kings and he´s been down with the true Hip Hop scene since day one. I don´t understand why he doesn´t focus a bit more on that aspect of his career instead of talking about the same old gang related shit and pimp shit. He doesn´t really need that.

Ice himself went from super skinny b-boy and party MC at the Radiotron to muscular, buff rapper in the late 80s to fat celebrity. He´s like a chameleon, and a VERY smart one.

I enjoyed the photos that you posted as well as your dialogue about "T". I remember way back in the day before he came out with "colors" he made an appearance in this rappers (Joe Ski's) Pee Wee Herman rap song (which was in one of the Pee Wee Herman Movies). Ice T was acting all sorts of doofy and corney. Next thing I know I start hearing all this gangster rap from him. Now he's a mainstream crime drama cop. Sometimes I think he's an "opportunist" and trys to find any ninche' where he thinks he can thrives. In otherwords, I don't think that he's true.

Now, everybody has to grow up sometime. I have absolutely no problem with Ice T's role on SVU...I was rather happy for him. I just am noting the contrast in a lot of his work.

As far as that performance in Hamburg that you spoke about, I never saw that ...but I know that if I saw what you described taking place in front of his son (no matter how old he is now) I would DEFINITELY have a problem with that shyd. Ice T is 52 now so I don't expect him to be all muscular like a say.....MELLE MEL. Pretty much all old school rappers bodies are going to pot even if they aren't necessarily fat. Maybe "T" thinks that flashing Coco around will keep our eyeballs off of his gut and flabbyness. shocked

OK....but Melle Mel is only three years younger. Melle Mel was born in 1961, Ice- T was born in 1958 ( same age as Prince).

Now look at Melle Mel´s current physique:

Speaking of Ice-T in Joeski Love´s video....Ice has a weird sense of humor and he has always been supportive of other rappers (except for his legendary beef with LL Cool J) but that doesn´t mean that he wasn´t "gangsta". Back when JoeskiLove´s PeeWee´s Dance single came out, Ice-T had already released most of his landmark gangsta rap classics such as DogNThe Wax, 6 N Tha Morning, Ya Don´t Quit etc. , and then , a year later , he released Rhyme Pays.

He also was heavily involved in crimes like robberies and other stuff but he quit that after he crashed his Porsche ( he nearly got killed in that accident and decided to focus on rapping).

He´s quite a character and I like his early stuff and the Analog Brothers album he did with Kool Keith under the Ice Oscillator moniker.

And yes, he definitely needs to hit the gym again or hang out with his old buddy Melle Mel for inspiration.

Here´s one of their classic songs......Melle Mel, Ice-T, Afrika Islam....the Zulu Kings.

Whoa...I wasn't being clear in my comparison of "T" with "Mel". I guess what I was trying to say was that everybody can't be a Melle Mel. Which is why I added that all old school rappers physiques are going to pot now. In addition, I don't even know if Melle Mel's body is "natural" or whether it was served to him courtesy of Balco Labs. I'm just saying that I really don't know. I just know what Mel's body was like back in the days of "The Message" and it was NOT all of that, and at 49 years old....muscle tissue is less present in the body, than it is when you are like 25...so I just dont know thats all.

I will admit that I really didn't care for Ice T a whole lot, and I'm from NY. Ice T did not get a whole lot of radio play prior to Colors in NY, and he didn't even get that much more radio play in NY after "Colors". This doesnt mean that NY hip hop heads were not aware of Ice T or his material....I'm just saying that eventhough I'm an old school hip hop head, and was very much actively listening to it back then...I just did not hear very much "T" and I didn't go searching for it either.

Also, I had no idea that Ice T did a song with Melle Mel....ha! I just made the comparison because they are of the same age group. I'm going to go and listen to the song now. Never even knew they linked up before you posted that. I stopped following Melle Mel after "White Lines".
