A Simple Question? I'm not asking this to offend anyone, however I do run across posts from time to time that ask what is the greatest album of all time. Now I get really ticked off when I see shows like the travesty VH-1 produced a few years ago on the same topic. Honestly how can someone say that a particular album is the greatest of all-time or the greatest ever made, or the best album ever released, when the idea of the greatest/best etc. is so subjective. Especially when a persons musical taste may be limited to a particular genre or a taste may be limited to a particular culture of music. I honestly think we should ask what is your favorite album and then ask the listener to explain why. The reason why I say this is because I am American and I have friends from Tokoyo, Pakistan, Argentia, etc. and if I asked them what is the greatest album of all time, they usually name things I have never heard of. Furthermore, although my taste in Euro/American music is diverse and eclectic, many of my friends are not as passionate about the music I like. So I guess I'm asking people to think a little outside the box when asking the Greatest Album of All Time question because the question has an undeterminable answer.

you have a Very valid Point&I agree.I think in terms of Being from America we just reflect on what we grew up on what moved us&what was a turning point of a Album for various reasons be it on us for personal choice or the culture on a whole.hope this makes some sort of sense too you?Peace mistermaxxx

The subtext to the question is: 'What, in your opinion, using the criteria you choose, is the greatest album ever made?' If you get angry at the results, then you've really missed the point, and only got yourself to blame.ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
