This album reminds me of the old times

I finally got the latest Kings Of Leon album Only By The Night, a mere twenty months after they first won me over with this song..... http://www.youtube.com/wa...AcsKJKM_xM. I was expecting it to be good, but it's a lot more than good. It's the first album I've heard in years that really takes you into a hypnotic otherworld. That's what I always thought music was meant to do, but this is the first ALBUM I've heard in a long time that sustains that feeling throughout. You find yourself going back to it again and again.

It reminded me of the feeling I used to get when I was hearing all those classic Prince albums back in the day. It makes your brain cells jump. Like Prince they're highly prolific and they've been on a massive upward curve since they first emerged in 2003. Every album is better and more interesting than the last. They have a distinct sound, but they've shown massive variety. They're kind of like P in that sense, and like him, they'll definitely burn out eventually, but right now they're on fire. Enjoy them while it lasts.

Good to see you back thumbs up!

I def relate to that sentiment, since I discovered the core of Sly & the Family Stone's music couple of months ago. I'm aware of their credentials and the songs they released, but when I took the time to listen to their WHOLE body of work, I entered the "newbie" status and I love the feeling mushy

I would give this Kings Of Leon album a spin once I get back home hmmm

Hmmm, just stumbled on this cover of "Use Somebody" by my second favourite "new" artist Bat For Lashes. Not as good as the Kings original, but I'll post it anyway.....http://www.youtube.com/wa...re=related

And back to the ballsy stuff. Some tracks from Only By The Night....
