Lady Gaga's Upcoming Tour Include Human Corpses?

Will Lady Gaga's Upcoming Tour Include Human Corpses? It Might ...

By James Montgomery

'Body Worlds' anatomist tells MTV News he 'welcomes the opportunity' to work with Gaga, but did not confirm collaboration.

Will Lady Gaga be working with the dead on the upcoming leg of her Monster Ball Tour?

In a story published Wednesday (June 23) in British tabloid The Sun,, the newspaper reported that Gaga has reached out to Gunther von Hagens, a controversial anatomist who invented a technique for preserving cadavers called plastination and is responsible for the popular traveling exhibition "Body Worlds."

The Sun quoted "a friend" of Gaga as saying "she is fascinated by Gunther's work and life ... [Gaga] sees a kindred spirit and is hoping to meet him in New York. They have spoken over e-mail and it's gone well. She is keen to have some Body Worlds element in one of her shows."

The source went on to say that Gaga is aiming to incorporate von Hagens' work into her tour by the time it gets to Las Vegas, which doesn't happen until March of 2011.

"It would be good to top this tour — which is already out-there — with something nobody has done before, using dead bodies as part of a gig," the source said.

While it all sounds a bit outrageous, given the popularity of the "Body Worlds" exhibition and Gaga's penchant for provocation, it's not as implausible as it might seem. In a statement to MTV News on Wednesday, von Hagens said he would "offer no comments on conversations that have already taken place with the singer or her representatives," but added that he "welcomes the opportunity" to work with Gaga.

"As someone who practices the violin every day, I feel that music is vital to our humanity and fundamental to our wellbeing. The post-mortal plastinated body on the other hand is a momento mori, a reminder that we must all die," he continued. "To create a convergence of both these profound subjects and ideas would be a wonderful challenge. To do so with a risk-taking, boundary-pushing artist like Lady Gaga would be a meeting of the minds and I look forward to it."

A rep for Gaga's label had not responded to MTV News' request for comment on the story at press time.

Im not really sure that this is possible, could be more HYPE, but as far as i know you cant just have dead bodies laying around on stage, and if this is real, then the amount of money that goes into the nonsense of this will go down as pure waste.

I don't think it will be all that bad considering I've been to one of the Body Worlds exhibits before and the bodies are presented in very different ways that I didn't think were possible which are more art than all gory blood and bones.

I hate to say it but it's not hard to see that Lady Gaga is going to have some severe emotional and psychiatric obstacles in her future before this thing is over. And that's regardless of whether this story is actually true or not. That woman just looks a lil far out there, kinda far to where she almost cant be corralled back in.

The Sun is a load of made up gossip aimed at CHAVs (Council House and Violent) with a reading age of 7 and an IQ of 73, this is garbage. Its the British version of the National Enquirer.

Ottensen

I've seen his exhibitions, and I like them alot. It's not like she'd be onstage with bodies in pickle juice or that look like funeral home formaldehyde bodies; he preserves primarily organs, some animals, and in the end they look more like glossy sculptures. Her premise sounds weird, to be sure, but I am interested to hear what the theme or statement is that she's trying to make that coordinates with the set. There's always a method to her madness and when she actually explains herself there's usually something clever that lies therin.

I had absolutely no idea those exhibits existed before reading this thread. I mean how do you arrive at going to such an event? Does someone like say "Hey let's go check out some art on dead bodies today and then we'll do lunch afterwards"? That would be an outting that I'd have to skip. So many other forms of art. Go to a pasta art exhibit or something.

I hear you, I just never heard of that sort of thing until reading this thread. So I was kinda shocked that that sort of thing was out there.

I went to a Bodyworks exhibition in Earls Court, London a few years ago. I guess that until you actually visit the show you will have preconceptions about the actual content. I went with a medical student and found it to be enlightening & educational, it's not a gorefest and I'd have no problems taking a child to see it (my friend took her 11 year old daughter who emerged without any psychological scars or mental trauma)

Even if the bodies are real OR fake, it's pretty obvious that Gaga is deep into the occult. And causal fans no longer need conspiracy theorists to tell them that.
