Elton John Mixes new cd, set for October 2010 Elton's new cd, the first since "the captain and the kid" , pairs Elton as always with songwriter Bernie Taupin but this time around Elton has his childhood hero Leon Russell on board, also joining the project on the Producing side is one of the best now, T Bone Burnett, also on this record appearances by Booker T Jones, Neil Young, Robert Randolph and Brian Wilson. Elton and company are mastering 16tracks for this record, and they range from "stones like rockers" to "traditional gospel" to "Sinatra like material heard on In the Wee small hours". The plan to do a record like this has been in the works for quite some time and now all the pieces are together. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Well I sure do hope this one is more in line with Songs From the West Coast than Peachtree Road or Captain and the Kid.
SFTWC had 8 absolutely stellar tracks on it. Peachtree Road was OK at best, and Captain and the Kid had three great songs with a bunch of uninspired tracks.
I'm glad he finally took a few years off and am expecting great things from this album.
