hmmm somehow,I can't imagine Michael singing "Ain't Nobody".That song seems tailor made for Chaka.

Yeah lol, it has indeed become a trademark of her catalogue. Nevertheless, MJ's version would've been an interesting session.

I've never heard that Janet thing. I interviewed Monte in 2002, and talked about that song. It was never mentioned that it was offered to Prince. I can't imagine Prince even listening to someone else's music back then in consideration for inclusion on his own albums. In 1985/1986, he was firmly planted in making UTCM and Parade.

I believe "Rock Your Body" was originally given to MJ, but he turned it down, and Justin got it instead - OR Justin was offered "You Rock My World", turned it down and MJ got it. I think the first scenario is the true one though.

Let's not forget "Shockadelica" with the Jesse/Prince snit fit.

Prince also took back "Kiss", and "Take Me With U" for himself.

Really? I'm on the opposite end. I'm glad she didn't record it cause you kinda need a voice to sing it.

Eh fail. That's actually one of Whitney's songs that didn't require much singing. neutral

Yea, I'm 100% sure he didn't even listen to it but it was submitted to him.

Actually, P wrote that to spite Jesse for not having a title track. P thought it was an awesome title and was "shocked" that Jesse didn't have a song by that title, so P wrote it just to fuck with Jesse.

'How Will I Know' was orginally written for Janet Jackson in 1985 but she turned it down and Whitney Houston recorded it. The song hit #1.

[Edited 6/25/10 18:24pm]

Some of the songs from the Control album (in their original forms) were offered to Sharon Bryant, who turned them down as she wanted to do a more AC record and wanted to stay away from funk. She also didn't see herself as having the image necessary to sell a track like "Nasty". She didn't record her debut album until 1989, and faded away very quickly after that.

Yeah, I've never heard anything about TPP being offered to Prince. Monte knew Jam & Lewis well and the song was always intended for Janet.

Shari Lewis and Lambchops singing How Will I Know would have been more funked up than Whitney's version.

Prince offered him "Would U Love To Love Me" in return, but MJ declined it. Woulda been intersting.

"All That I Can Say" by Lauryn Hill, intended for Whitney Houston, sung instead by Mary J.

"Oops(Oh My)" by Missy & Timbaland, intended for Aaliyah, sung instead by Tweet.

"This Will Be" by Marvin Yancy, intended for Aretha Franklin, sung by Natalie Cole(which gave her a grammy).

"Do You Know Where You're Going To(Mahogany theme)" by Michael Massar, intended for Thelma Houston, sung by Diana Ross.

"Sugar Walls" by Prince, intended for Chaka Khan, sung by Sheena Easton.

"Untill You Come Back To Me" written and originally recorded/shelved by Stevie Wonder, intended for Gladys Knight, sung by Aretha Franklin.

I don't believe that "The Pleasure Principle" was offered to Prince.Back in the 80s,Prince only recorded songs that HE wrote.Plus,Monte wasn't on good terms with Prince at that point.
