I think the Record Companies have finally figured out what will sell (...and who's buying!). Grown folks don't mind spending the pennies for the good stuff. These are definitely going on my list.

I can't wait for Bell & James albums to be remastered and re-released! I don't believe any of them were ever available on CD before. I loved EVERY song on each of them.

I have both Bell and James albums on vinyl. It would be nice to finally get 'em on CD nod

and yes,it seems that record companies have finally realized that people still buy CDs and want these classic albums. There's definitely a market out there for this type of music.Release it and we will buy it!

My problem is; I have both albums on vinyl also, but haven't owned a turntable in over 25 years! LOL (...my next turntable will definitely have a USB connection! I've got TONS of music that was NEVER released on CD). But I used to LOVE those albums, can still remember those tunes in my head - especially "Ask Billie". I hate how the radio reduces so many great recording acts down to one or two "hits". Back in the day, you could listen to entire albums without lifting the needle once.

I'm looking forward to taking great care in digitizing all my vinyl, will probably take me years to do it right. But even back in the day, when I would get a new LP, the first thing I would do was on the first play was record it to a cassette, that way I could keep the vinyl intact while listening only to the cassette. It's one of the reasons why my vinyl collection is in such good shape, and I always only handled them by the edges, never the surface.

But I understand what you're saying.

I'm sure the Technology is great but it seems like something would get lost in the translation.

I have my 1200 running 2 an Akia mixer which runs digital 2 my computer. Maybe the USB is cleaner?

I'm thinking USB may be a cleaner, more direct, connection. But I really haven't taken the time to compare the specs, I just know I want one, lol.

The logic of it says Direct USB would be cleaner. Since my 1200's are so old, I can't go that route anyway.

Very cool. Nice to see that they are remastering their other albums as well, and not just the first two. I think I'm going to go see if I can find this remastered two-fer tomorrow smile

Thanks for the heads-up!

Me and the late Johnnie Wilder Jr. share the same birthday (July 3), by the way

Oh and,

cool

are you familiar with those songs? I wonder why the third album ('Hot Property') didn't do as well as the first two albums confuse Songs like "Razzle Dazzle" and "Eyeballin'" should have become disco-era anthems.

"Hot Property is my favorite Heatwave album hands down. Why it wasn't a mega hit, is a mystery to me also. My favorites are " All Talked Out", "The Night We Feel", and "Eyeballin'". Perfect album really.

I see they're using the original artwork for the "Too Hot To Handle" album cover too! I love how they're starting to remaster these classics, they're sounding better than ever too! Just received Rick James' "Fire It Up" and "Garden of Love" in the mail a few weeks back also.

What I love best is how when you're listening to these classics, they bring back feelings you haven't felt since waaaaaay back in the day. In some cases, I'm reminded of things about myself that I had long since forgotten.

It's all about People, Places & Things.

Funny thing about me and Heatwave; I probably purchased their first album within weeks of it's release, and have been a fan since then. But I couldn't identify even ONE MEMBER of that band if they were sitting here staring me in the face. I just don't ever remember actually seeing them play much back in the day. I remember them being on The Midnight Special with Wolfman Jack and Don Kirshner's Rock Concert (for you young'ins, those shows were our "106th & Park", lol), but even then; they just didn't have a look that I remember. Nevertheless, their music was part of the soundtrack of my youth. And I can't wait to reconnect with this small piece of it.

I didn't know the members either for a long time. My mom bought me my first Heatwave

album Central Heating when i was in the 6th grade. Only Johnnie Wilder and his brother

Keith stood out to me because they were the lead vocalists in the group when you saw them

on tv. Johnnie was the pre El Debarge(pretty boy that can sang). Later Rod Temperton stood

out for me because of his work with Quincy Jones. I later only learned about JD Nichols when

he joined the Commodores and he joked that it was his calling in life to replace lead singers in

a band. Everyone knows about Johnnie's tragic motorcycle accident which left him paralyzed

until his death which led JD Nichols to the group. I remember reading about Johnnie's motorcycle

accident way back in middle school but even then i didn't realize how serious it was.

Do the kids today even dance to their favorite music? I should get out more, lol.

Wow, you know your Heatwave! I don't know how it slipped past my radar, but MOST of that stuff I did not know. neutral And it's odd because I'm so deeply familiar with their music. I even have those first two albums somewhere on 8-track! boxed Could be that Parliament/Funkadelic robbed my attention away from most everyone else, lol.

Truthfully i only really knew about a few albums from them. I remember Eyeballing from

the Hot Property album but kind of lost track of the group after that album. A lot of it

probably had to do with them slipping a bit after Johnnie Wilder's accident and Rod leaving

the group. I didn't even know about these songs One Tan and Raise A Blaze so you probably

knew some things about Heatwave i didn't know. lol

I recall hearing that Johnnie's car got hit by a dump truck, no motorcycle involved. I may or may not be correct, of course. Their bass player on the first two albums, Mario Mantese was also involved in a car crash before their third album and had to quit the band. And, as if that wasn't enough, before the band even got in the studio to record their debut LP back in the UK, their rhythm guitarist Jesse Whitten was murdered. He was replaced by Roy Carter. Talk about misfortune sad

'Candles'(1980 album) remaster due August 10.

'Current' (1982 album) remaster due August 4.

These three "Imports", being released by Epic Japan in August don't seem to be "remastered" as best I can tell, unlike the "Too Hot To Handle / Central Heating" 2fer being released on the Edsel label. Although "Hot Property" is promoted as having an additional track. I may pass on these Imports in hopes that the Edsel label will be issuing actual remastered versions of them.

I'm sure these 3 Imports will quickly sell out, and by passing on them in hopes of remastered versions, I may run the risk of missing out altogether. But I'm really trying to purchase my favorite reissued classics on CD ONLY if they've been remastered. As it is now, over the years I've collected 3 and 4 different versions of so many of my favorite albums (8-tracks, LP's, Cassettes, CD's, Imports & Remasters).
