Naw, back in the day if you were into hip hop you would know nobody took them seriously, they were the dumbed down mainstream sanitized ready for MTV version of hip hop, packaged and ready for white kids lunch boxes. Together with the Fat Boys and The Fresh Prince this form of "music" both elevated hip hop to mainstream status but also almost destroyed it at the same time.

Rap had to go extreme "straight out of Compton kill the police" to shake this crap.

And there you have it, a quick synopsis of the genesis of shit-hop.
