BROOKLYN (WABC) -- Aretha Franklin is recovering after falling in her bathtub, forcing the cancellation of two planned concerts in Brooklyn. The 66-year-old Queen of Soul was scheduled to perform on Aug. 9 at Wingate Field in Crown Heights and again on Aug. 12 at Asser Levy Seaside Park in Coney Island. Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, who heralded the concerts, wished her "a speedy recovery" and said he hoped she would reschedule from the Sunday fall. Music Royalty in Motion | |

Aretha Franklin injured in fall, cancels Brooklyn shows The Detroit News Aretha Franklin is recovering from a fall she suffered Sunday and has been forced to cancel two shows in Brooklyn, her spokesperson announced today. Franklin suffered fractured ribs and pain in her abdomen, and has been advised by her doctors to come in for tests. Efforts are being made to reschedule the canceled concerts for the end of the month. "I was very much looking forward to being in Brooklyn and having a foot long hot dog at Coney Island," Franklin said in a statement. "Hopefully, I will get it before the end of August." The concerts -- Franklin's first ever Brooklyn shows -- were set for Aug. 9 and Aug. 12, and Franklin was also scheduled to perform at the birthday party for U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., on Aug. 11. Last week, Franklin performed at a fundraiser in Philadelphia alongside Condoleezza Rice and the Philadelphia Orchestra From The Detroit News:
