Anyway, I think Brandy's last three releases have been trying to match what this album generated:

And she was still technically teenage. Full Moon did OK but it was a fallout from NSN. Afrodisiac was a GREAT album but it was hardly promoted and Brandy's own promotion with it didn't make it any better considering her private life was causing controversy and havoc around that time. Then that whole car incident that stopped things for a while.

By the time Human came, I think no one really cared for it though by many accounts it was a good album that just wasn't promoted properly at all.

So what good is going to Def Scam going to do for her?

Memoirs did tank, but the others are flops by what standard? E=MC2 and Charmbraclet both went platinum.

This isn't a good sign for Brandy. The only person Def Jam/IDJ gives support to is Rihanna. She definitely needs stronger material. Human was a good album but it was a tad slow.

Because E=MC2 and Charmbracelet suffered from budget problems. Plus they had problems with singles. I think it went platinum due to fan base. Plus you know how some albums are projected to sell this amount by mid-year and when it doesn't it's because people had too many high expectations on how an album should sell. To us going platinum is great but for artists, it's not as good compared to how they used to sell.

Well, her voice is now. I don't think it aged well. But her voice in the 90's was really good.

This song was originally recorded by MJ, Brandy asked to use it and he gave her his permission.

His version remained unreleased.

Whenever I say people flop I don't say it to the fault of the ARTIST, it's mainly because labels don't know how to or don't want to promote that artist. The multi-million dollar contracts are basically tricks to get you to think they trust you enough to produce something great and then if things don't work out with singles or something happens between the artist and whoever helped in releasing it ran into bad communications which leads to projects "flopping".

Brandy has ran into that problem numerous times as have OTHER artists. No one is immune to a flop.

I just don't see a bright light for Brandy right now because of this.

LL left for alot of reasons, promotion was last on the list, he felt he built that label with his work and should have been paid for it more than he was, DEF JAM is now run by people not interested in oldtimers like LL. As for Brandy she should be called Blandy, i mean she is just going to do what rihanna and others do, i mean she was already crying in interviews that tracks werent given to her that were given to rihanna and britney, OK how about you make your own shit. Hire a band produce and write, take a fucking shot.
