Rihanna's Next Album "Thriller Inspired"

[img:$uid]http://imgur.com/JxsLu.jpg[/img:$uid]

June 17, 2010

The recording process of Rihanna's next studio installment "is coming along incredibly," so Bu Thiam revealed. Stargate, Ester Dean, Mel & Mus and Rock City, Ne-Yo and The-Dream are some of the people mentioned by the Vice President of Def Jam to be involved in the effort.

He shared to Vibe, "I'm trying to push her to where every song will be a hit from 1 to 12. I'm talking about NO album fillers. Our bar for this album is Michael Jackson's Thriller." He added, "She's great to work with and very hands on with every song that's being written and produced. She has visual concepts for just about every song. It's already giving me the feel of a timeless album, and right now is her time."

With the bar set high, it is no wonder then if "there is a big writing camp with 50 other producers writing for Rihanna's next album." Earlier this year, Taio Cruz revealed about what he knew concerning the Barbadian songstress' record, adding "They have hired out 20 to 30 different studios and had everyone in there collaborating, switching people around. Each person did about six or seven songs. It doesn't normally work like that but she's a huge artist."

And, one of the acclaimed music makers who is ready to hook up with Rihanna is David Guetta. "We['re] thinking of doing something together," Guetta told MTV at the recent Activision E3 party in Los Angeles. "We just have to make sure it's OK with her schedule and my schedule, 'cause ... this is what happens. Unfortunately, it's not only about the music anymore, it's also about schedules, which is really boring but, you know."

Giving a tease on what he will be crafting, the French DJ stated, "Well, you know I'm a DJ, so I make beats that make you wanna dance. -- And I think she was one of the first to do that in that urban world, so you know, I think it would be good for her to do it again."

She's a fucking idiot.

First, it's nice to have that standard when you're making music. But let's remember this: When the album isn't even done, and you're putting out a comparison like Thriller, you've already doomed the record. No record, especially in this day and age from 99% of the people out there, is going to live up to that. NO ONE is going to create a record that will have folks saying, "This is so much better than Thriller." The only, and only, person that could do that (and did) is now dead.

Didn't her pimp ex-boyfriend Chris Beat-Em-Down Brown use the same verbage when talking about his dismal failure of an album, Graffiti, and compared it to Purple Rain, or something? (Even stealing the font, and stealing the cover art idea from a Spongebob cartoon?)

Those two are made for each other. Z-list.

Those two together are like eyesores.

It's sad that anyone would compare what they're gonna do to classic albums. Now when artists say their album is inspired by an artist or an album I just laughed.

Like 50 Cent saying his new album was Marvin-inspired. Bitch please. rolleyes lol

SHE didn't say that. A producer did. They are fucking idiots. The fact that this is done by HUGE committees does not sound like a great idea. What happened to finding one or two strong collaborators and working with them all the way through. She's, sadly, a puppet.

There's no doubt that the term "Thriller-like" has been thrown around in the studio among all of them. I hold her as responsible as any producer speaking for her. She is a puppet, and a little girl lost.

I think they are speaking for themselves, really. Too many producers are doing the aritsts they work with a HUGE disservice by hyping the hell out of their yet to be finished albums by throwing around terms like "Thriller" or "The same feel/vibe/spirit as..." and many others. The worst offender of course was Jermaine Dupri.

I took that 2 mean, either sampling Thriller or creating tracks that "borrow" from Thriller.
