What Coming To America series?!
"Black Pack"? Never heard of that term before
"Black Pack" is not a term, but a group developed in the mid-80s that featured Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Keenen and Damon Wayans, Robert Townsend and Paul Mooney. Also Chris Rock. PRINCE: Always and Forever
MICHAEL JACKSON: Always and Forever

Oh..well thats news to me.
Notice the wave of mid-late 80s comedies starring multiple members: Coming to America (Eddie/Arsenio - ghost written with Keenen who was to star instead of Arsenio), Hollywood Shuffle (Townsend/Wayans'/Mooney), Eddie Murphy RAW (written/produced/directed by Townsend and Keenen), Harlem Nights (Murphy/Arsenio), Five Heartbeats (Towsend/Wayans), ect, ect, ect. Yeah I remembered a bit of that Pack all too well. Because that's usually who I saw on TV, actually the first folks I recognized on TV besides MJ, Prince, Madonna, George Michael and 'em. They reigned supreme during the late '80s through the early '90s. |

They should do a special on them as a unit. I lot of folks don't even know. Hell, people actually think Keenen and Arsenio hated each other. PRINCE: Always and Forever

Chris Rock was NOT a part of the Black Pack. Keenan put Rock in oneof his films when Rock was basically an unknown. By the Time Chris was "Chris Rock" the Black pack had become a nap sack. |

I found an interview that said he used to hang out with the Pack. I'll try and dig it up.
EDIT: Found it.

Chris was a freshman to their senior, but he basically came up under them. His first role was a small part in Beverly Hills Cop 2 and after that came I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. If he wasn't rollin with 'em like that, how else could he intimatley talk about how Eddie used to roll back then jeweled out with security and his entourage? [Edited 6/28/10 17:39pm] |
