Maxwell and Jill were in DC lastnight I have always really liked both.... Solid concert although the sound was distored for both so I was disapointed there. Maxwell is an incredible charasmatic performer my wife who is a less a fan than I am was literally melting in her seat if you know what I mean.
I enjoyed his show... he seems like a really cool guy too... constantly thanking the crowd for coming out and selling out the show in a 20,000 seat arena
I will say this Maxwell needs to add to his catalog .... so many of his songs sound alike so in a way that took away from the experience... the fact that he didn't have a ton of songs that could change the pace a bit
When you see a perfromer as strong as Maxwell it really makes you appreciate how amazing a performer Prince is and his ability to play so many types of music
He is also heavily influenced by Prince vocally swithching between the falsetto, tenor, and baritone effortlessly. The wife actually turned to me and said wow he sounds like Prince... and indeed at times he did
Overall a solid show [Edited 6/19/10 12:03pm] Dance... Let me see you dance

I saw them in Philly last night (6/19). I really enjoyed Jill Scott (the main reason I went). I liked the outfits she and her band wore, although I didn't really like her shoes... Her voice was strong, and I loved the energy level of her set.
I've never seen Maxwell before. I thought he was good. He was energetic and he played to the audience... He kept thanking "Philadelphia... for producing Jill Scott"; he laid on the "Jill Love" really thick.
Overall, I enjoyed myself. "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"
