Raphael Saadiq, EWF Attend Songwriters Hall of Fame Ceremony
Raphael Saadiq, Earth Wind and Fire and more showed up at the 41st Annual Songwriters Hall of Fame Ceremony at the Marriott Marquis in NYC on June 17.
Saadiq honored EWF with a rendition of the band's "Can't Let Go" & joined them on stage for "September".

That's great to see. I've been a fan of Saadiq's since Tony Toni, Tone's first album. Definitely an underrated talent. | |

it's strange to see Al McKay up there,looking all chummy with his ex-bandmates.Last year,he did an interview where he implied that Earth Wind and Fire lip-syncs during their recent performances! Check out this video at around 01:48 seconds.....Al realises that his notoriety as a great artist and rhythm guitar player is really a function of his successes during his tenure with EWF.
His live shows cater to his EWF days....very little of his show plays to any solo material he worked on susbequent to leaving EWF.....
So he knows where his bread is buttered, to coin a phrase.....he would be a fool for not being a part of celebrating and taking credit for some of the greatest music ever released. [Edited 6/22/10 7:36am] | |
