Snoop Dogg Professes ‘True Blood’ Love With ‘Oh Sookie’ Video

Snoop Dogg Professes ‘True Blood’ Love With ‘Oh Sookie’ Video

Last year Snoop Dogg said he wanted to be a vampire on ‘True Blood.’ Now, the devoted fan of the hit HBO series has released a hilarious music video ode to Sookie Stackhouse, aptly titled “Oh Sookie.”

“We’ll do it in the daytime/Bill won’t know a thing,” he raps before a group of dancers dressed in blonde Sookie wigs and her signature Merlotte’s Daisy Dukes.

The lyrics, which demonstrate an impressive understanding of the show, spell out a comically sexual plea for Sookie to do bad things with him. But, it’s not just Sookie he’s after: “Bring a friend/Matter fact, bring your best friend/Tara/I’ve got some real eggs for her to eat.”

In 2009, Snoop professed his love for ‘True Blood’ via his single “Gangsta Luv,” rapping: “Everyday is the same thang, I creep in/ It’s like ‘True Blood,’ I sink my teeth in/ I gotta have it.”

A source at HBO reveals the d-o-double-g himself approached them with the idea for the video, and it was shot on location of the show’s Los Angeles set.

Would you like to see him join forces with the vampires of Bon Temps in a guest-starring role?

Usually love Snoop. Been down with the guy forever. But lately I'm wondering if the D-o-double-g shouldn't start focusing more on his acting career and leave the hip-hop alone.

What acting career??? The only thing I've seen him in is "Baby Boy" and his acting wasn't that convincing to me.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

It's a shame to see Snoop Dogg's music decline in quality so much.
To be honest, I still think he has it in him, but it is his choice to make nonsense commercial hip-pop that has resulted in such weak music.

Since the early 90s through to Paid the Cost to be the Boss he was putting out good music (there was some pop-ish stuff, some of good, some of bad. Da Game Is To Be Sold, Not To Be Told was terrible, too).

I say he still has it in him, because even when he went very commerical with R&G, he still put out good songs afterwardsn (LAX with Ice Cube, Secrets with Kokane).

[Edited 6/19/10 8:48am]

Having said that R&G did have some good songs, but albums such as Doggystyle and Tha Last Meal were amazing.

Well I didn't say he was GOOD, necesarilly. lol That's why maybe he should conentrate on it. But dude does have a pretty extensive list of acting work on IMDb. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004879/

I'd love to see Snoop in one -- AND ONLY ONE -- episode. Maybe he could be the Vampire King of Georgia, surrounded by all sorts of Atlanta stripper types. lol

What is so wrong with this? It's just a fun promo for a show that he likes. It's not a real single or video.

It's most definitely real. It's right there at the top of this thread. Real song, real video. To each their own, for sure. But I'm with Graycap on this one. Not a good look. Probably get Snoop some more work, though. lol

I think it is a promo for the show rather than a single release because a 'True Blood' advert appears at the finish of the video.

Of course, it's a real video and real song. Doesn't mean it's a lead single for a solo album. Maybe a 'True Blood' soundtrack?

It's fun. A parody. A homage. Aren't rappers allowed to have fun? He must be pushing forty and has released a slew of quality albums. Yes, he has had his blips, but at least he is ageing gracefully, rather than pretending he is still 'heavy in the game'. Whatever, 'Blue Carpet Treatment' went pretty hard and 'Malice N' Wonderland' has its moments, albeit slightly contrived.

Snoop is a cultural icon now from US to UK, Europe etc. He's not going anywhere, but is certainly not the Snoop Dogg of 'Doggystyle'. The Wideawake release of some 'Lost Sessions' at Death Row, chronicles that quite nicely though, with good sound q.

It's SNOOP DOGG! Like I said, to each their own. I'm glad some people like it. But don't act like this is normal, or great, like some of us haven't passionately followed the guys career since The Chronic. Please. I know the guy has fun. I think he's one of the few who HAVE been allowed to have fun and still play the "gangsta" role. But this is just silly, to me.

It's supposed to be silly though. It's not a true single to be played on the radio or anything like that. It's just supposed to be funny.
