Rapper's Delight: what's the other song (not Good times)?

Great article on how Rapper's delight got created (and the live bass playing)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rappers_Delight

But I always wondered what song the other break is from.... the intro part with the cowbell and no piano or strings, just that bass/basspiano thing. Anyone know?

It was just an "Intro"....It isn't from another song.

So is it an intro to Good TImes? I never heard that part on Good times before, but I don't own the original album?

I'm listening now but don't know I want to hear the whole 10 mins! smile Did Sugarhill's band replay it or just mix it in (analog sample?) Cuz form what i heard so far it's the same base line but not the same sounds or cowbells.

replayed by the label band.

someone sorta stumped me though when they asked about the horn stabs after the bassline changes to Chic, if those were replayed too.

Interesting. If you mean the stabs right after "1 for the money etc." that's a string scratch that was probably done from the GT record.

Or did you mean somewhere else?

While on topic, the piano parts that come in gotta be the record, cuz that acoustic piano is EXACTLY like Chic's piano player.

OK JUST LISTENED AGAIN: I MUST HAVE A DIFFERENT VERSION ON MY ITUNES CUZ THE INTRO WITH THE COWBELLS DOESN'T HAVE THAT OTHER BASS LINE. JUST THE 1ST NOTE OF THE GOOD TIMES BASSLINE REPEATED OVER THE COWBELLS. THAT'S WEIRD! THIS VERSION IS 7:36. I GUESS I ONLY HEARD THE OTHER ON THE RADIO.
