That title belongs to Eminem.

No, Tupac really is the most overrated rapper of all time.

Kanye, 50 Cent, Bow Wow, Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Ja Rule (If you can find him!), & Rick Ross are way more overrated.

2pac is the greatest of all time, right after Rakim, KRS-One, & Big Daddy Kane in that order! cool

If you OR Joe think Biggie was better than both of you are out of your minds. tease

Don't get it twisted, Biggie is in my Top 10 list as well. But 2pac was a way better songwriter than Biggie (despite that Biggie was a better freestyler). Jay-Z basically took over Biggie's old spot (despite his only 2 losts to DMX & Nas). But no one on the east coast, west coast, OR dirty south has ever been good enough to take 2pac's place.

Please quote me! cool

yawn You and your assumptions. I like Biggie, but he was never my favorite rapper to begin with, my mom, on the other hand, was a big fan of his. Jay-z lost his touch a long time ago, so forget about him. If you think 2pac was GOAT, good for you, but I don't. I don't hate 2pac, I just never thought he was that great. People have a tendency of blowing people's legacy out proportion. Anyway, Rakim > 2pac. lol

dude makes more money now than living rappers...doubt he is, was, or will ever be irrelevant. LL, Snoop, and Jay are still in the game, why wouldn't Pac's over-energetic ass be? He'd probably be acting like Ice T and Cube too...

PS Lil Wayne is the most overrated rapper ever!!!

I don't know about Nas. Never been big on him.

I think a lot of that has a lot to do with his death though, and the way people put him in like this god-like status. It would have interesting to his response when the South would start dominating.

LL (his show excluded) and Snoop are pretty irrelevant today. lol I don't know why people still like Jay-Z. I agree, he would've gotten further into acting.

Add Drake to that list also. People make him out to be some sort of musical genius and lyricist.

Pac was getting crazy accolades and sales way before his death....please recognize!

I'm tired of people acting like folk wasn't talented before they died and people just give them props because they passed early....seriously, we wouldn't be talking about them 10-15 years later unless they had something special. A whole lot of people have passed in the industry and all of them are not getting the attention just because of their deaths. (Not even that they weren't talented, either)

I didn't mean to make you mad and I apologize for it. I didn't say he was un-talented, but I feel like people over-inflate him.

I'm not mad, it's just gets tired to have people belittle him like he wasn't influential, like he wasn't talented, like he wasn't on of the top-selling rap artists before his death. It's like, seriously, you think no one knew who Pac was before he died. I've been liking Pac since "Brenda's Got A baby" when he was one of the few to talk about social issues with intelligence, liking Pac since he was down with Digital Underground, and I think it's a damn shame that we lost someone so articulate to the "thug life". I think it's fucked up that you can call him overrated when the legacy of music he left behind 15 years ago shits on so-called hip-hop music of today. I mean, really what would it take for anyone to rate him higher? There's no question he left his mark and influenced rap music and ranks in the top ten rap artists ever.

It's just like people act like Aaliyah wasn't shit, and people just praise her because she died....no. They act like Left Eye wasn't shit until she died...no. It's just real belittling. You don't have to like an artist but it's no reason to negate the legacy they left behind. I'm no big Elvis fan but I can totally admit he changed the game in regards to rock and roll mixed with soul. I'm no Beatles fan, but I can admit John Lennon was an absolute genius. I don't watch Marilyn Monroe movies but I can see how she stood out from a generation of big boobed blondes.

Out of anything though, it's just a sheer utter lie to say Pac is the most overrated rap artist of all time. Trust....there are way shittier rappers than Pac getting unearned accolades.

And sometimes, because a person has passed on and folk may be a little extra sensitive, it's not always a bad idea to keep certain opinions to yourself and politely back out of a thread. If you feel he wasn't all that to you, that's fine, move the fuck on and live your life...

After all...it's not like if he's getting to live his....

That tends to happen when an artist's life ends so tragically. See: Aaliyah and Kurt Cobain.

I don't think Pac is overrated but he's definitely overhyped, IMHO.

Sorry, but that's bullshit, and you know it...if we cannot talk about a certain musician just because he/she's dead, hell, then perhaps we should leave this forum in the first place...

the fact is that :

1-this is a 2Pac general thread, so we can discuss his music and his legacy...

2-some folks here (me included) are just trying to say that, alive or not, 2Pac never released something like Death Certificate or Fear of a Black Planet...

3-yeah, 2Pac was the first rap superstar of all time...so what? Wayne, Usher or 50 Cents are sellin' a lot these days as well...and that's not a compliment...

actually the thread was intended to be a homage to him, that it was his birthday, and not a "general thread" to discuss his music and legacy in a negative manner...

you and some people could have went and started a thread titled "2Pac is overrated" and then people who agreed with you could've agreed, people who wanted to argue could've argued, and sensitive people could've avoided...

All Eyez On Me was worth 5 million buying it before he died...

And no one said you couldn't discuss the deceased, but you could have left it alone until a less sensitive time....is it so hard to not act an asshole?

Since I'm the one that made the thread, I can tell you for a fact that it is not a Tupac general thread. This thread is for acknowledging what would have been his 39 birthday sharing and celebrating his life in some way, with a kind word, a picture or a video with others that appreciate his contributions. If you want to discuss all that other mess, make your own thread and leave this one be.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.
