Catholic Church or Whoever

First let me say that Lady GaGa has her moments but this is something that I have to ask.....

Where are all those people who thrashed a certain Madonna kissing a Black Jesus video?

Have they all died off or do they not consider Alejandro as offensive as Like a Prayer?

It's obvious that this video has a purpose other than to entertain, yet it seems that no one is addressing its statement.

To be honest I never got the complaint over Madonna's video. That video's tame to what I saw in "Alejandro" (not that that video's bad or anything, I love the cinematography in it).

Anyway, shouldn't this be in the Gaga thread? confused

I read that thread and this probably could fit in there, but I just wanted to put this question out there.

Now thinking about it, I should have put this in the Politics and Religion forum.

I remember that the uproar cause Madonna to lose her contract with Pepsi.

Maybe, because it is a different time that Lady GaGa isn't catching the grief that Madonna did.

Good possibility. hmmm I mean no one was doing that in 1989 (or what Sinead O'Connor would do three years later lol)

different time, different standards, and really there isn't much all that offensive compared to burning crosses and interracial kiss, and it wasn't a Black Jesus it was St. Martin de Porres.

Madonna was a bit more poltical with the whole arresting the black guy because he was at the scene of the crime, and than Madonna freeing him with her testimony, the burning crosses and than the kiss. She was speaking out against racism, and blantly so. Gaga says her video is about gay rights but if it is it's hidden. to people who didn't know what statement she is trying to make it's a collection of nonsensical images.

if she was more out there about the gay rights thing than the image of the nun to symbollize the Catholic Church might be more of a striking point but on a surface reading you can't get it.

You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna
authentic power is service- Pope Francis

Good point.
