Pat Benatar tells her storyFor more than thirty years, Pat Benatar has been one of the most iconic women in rock music, with songs like "Heartbreaker," "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," and "Love Is a Battlefield" becoming anthems for multiple generations of fans. Now, in this intimate and uncompromising memoir, one of the bestselling female rock artists of all time shares the story of her extraordinary career, telling the truth about her life, her struggles, and how she won things—her way. From her early days in the New York club scene of the 1970s to headlining sold-out arena tours, Benatar offers a fascinating account of a life spent behind the microphone. As the first female artist ever to be played on MTV, she speaks candidly about the realities of breaking into the boys' club of rock and roll at a time when people everywhere still believed a woman's only place in popular music was as a girlfriend, a groupie, or a sex symbol. And though her fiery edge and aggressive swagger produced instant success, they also led to fights over her image that would linger for years to come. Going backstage and into the studio, Benatar sets the record straight about how her music evolved, illustrating the visionary role that her guitarist, producer, and eventual husband, Neil "Spyder" Giraldo, played in combining her classically trained voice with razor-sharp guitar to create her unique hard-rock sound. Together they formed a musical and spiritual bond that would last a lifetime, helping her stay true to herself while avoiding the pitfalls and excesses of rock stardom. Written with the attitude and defiance that embodies Pat Benatar's music, Between a Heart and a Rock Place is a rock-and-roll story unlike any other, a remarkable tale of playing by your own rules, even if that means breaking a few of theirs. About the AuthorPat Benatar is one of the most accomplished female rock musicians of all time. She has won four Grammy Awards and sold more than twenty-two million records during a career that has produced nineteen Top 40 singles. Currently touring and performing around the country, she lives in California with her husband and two daughters.

I love Pat Benetar's music, but I have to say as a person I've always found her a little boring. I'm wondering what she has to say in this book that will be all that revealing or fascinating. Sometimes some of the best pop and rock books are not written by the most talented musicians, but by people who have had dramatic lives with lots of problems or have a very sharp wit or great sense of humor. Now maybe there's another side to her that I haven't seen, but I don't see this book as being something I'm too excited to read. I think she's an amazing artist with a great influence on women in the industry though. Personally, I'd be much more interested in a new album from her than this book.

I think she looks great and that it is amazing that in the rock business she not only had the success she did and is still performing but was still able to hold a family together amidst all the pitfalls that have overcome so many others. That IMO is something to write about! Not to mention those songs I loved back then...Heartbreaker, Hit Me With Your Best Shot, Love Is A BattleField, We Belong...

I think she's a very interesting artist and I want to read her book.I'm not sure what kind of "drama" she's been through, but I'm sure that there will be some surprises in the book.
