I wonder what prompted Luther's eating disorder? Clearly he had one to go up and down in weight the way he did.

He had that stomach surgery right? Then he got big again? Wasn't he diabetic also?

I've never read that he had surgery for his weight problem, I always thought he lost the weight naturally through those fad diets or whatever, then next thing you know he was back to being big again. Yes he was most definitely diabetic...so I guess that tells you that his docs were most likely on him all the time about his weight. nod

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Yeah. I've seen footage of her during 1974-1977 (one of those years) when she looked like she was only a size 2-4 at one point. I was shocked.

nod See when she was younger, right before she got really famous she was small, but a healthy small, know what I mean? She was really nice looking, but as the 60's went on she gained a little here and there, then all of a sudden in the mid 70's she was super skinny. Then of course when she gained little by little of the weight back and then some by the 80's..she blamed it on when she quit smoking cigarettes. Isn't that right?

That's probably because smoking stopped her from eating. I think a lot of women did that back then. They substituted a meal with a pack of cigarettes to try to stay underweight. disbelief But once their lungs and other organs became damaged they have to quit, then they start eating again and become overweight.

Prior to 1986, Luther was about the same size. Maybe it was the Jheri curl that threw u off. lol

Luther lost weight for the first time in 1986.

He then picked up some of the weight again for the "Any Love" album.

After that, he yo-yoed up and down. It was like he would lose weight, record an album, go on tour, then gain weight. He definitely struggled with his weight until he had his stroke.

I remember him discussing this on Oprah one time.

Remember when he won his first Grammy for "Here and Now", he thanked his diet doctor? lol

Luther's sexuality was never made public. Therefore, nothing was confirmed.

U should read this book:

It addresses a lot of the gay rumors.

I don't know about u, but I MISS him sooooo much. He holds a special place in my heart because he was my first concert. He set a high standard that not many could live up to live. His voice was always perfect. He had a great stage prescence. He also proved that you don't have to dance and move around the stage to entertain the masses. His shows were always CLASSY.

I wouldn't care if he gained 300 or was down to 150, point was he NEVER lost that voice. That was one of the most beautiful voices in pop and soul music. Losing that was a big blow to me.

"Skinny" Luther wasn't too heathy either. I can't remember the event, but I remember seeing him perform on TV several years before he passed away, and his bones looked like they were gonna pass through his skin. His suit was hanging off him like it didn't even belong to him. He was visably ill, and you could see that he was nervous about people noticing that fact.

Luther was such a good soul. Sometimes I still can't believe he's gone. Or Rick, or Michael, or Isaac, or Roger, or Teddy, or Marvin, or Barry, or Garry, or...

I just wish people didn't have to die neutral

Luther addressed this on the BET DVD. He challenged anyone to be able to tell the difference in his voice from "big" to "small".

lol that cracked me up, I don't know much about him at all but I really respect him from afar and I love his song with janet and dance with my father
