Big Boi's reason why Andre 3000 isn't on new album: label industry politics (surprise lol)

From http://mog.com/MOG_Featur...og/2049731

After three years of waiting, Outkast founder Big Boi's official debut solo album, Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son Of Chico Dusty, is about to arrive. Of course, getting it into the hands of the people hasn't been easy -- Big Boi struggled until the very end. This past week, the rapper's former label, Jive, decided to deny the use of tracks he created with Andre 3000 while he was still signed to the label (he is now releasing the album on Def Jam). Even an 11th-hour plea from Three Stacks himself wasn't enough to sway the label to reconsider.

So Big Boi did what any screwed-over artist should do: He went ahead with plans to release the album sans-Andre 3000 tracks, went to Twitter and the media to tell his story, and even better (for us), he leaked a previously unheard collaboration with Andre titled "Lookin For Ya." We get it: Big Boi isn't the first person to get pushed around by a label. It happens. But the last-minute denial from Jive seems especially spiteful. That's why we decided to go into the history books and look at artists that had similarly unfortunate encounters.

OutKast used to be signed to BMG's LaFace/Arista Records . Jive Records brought out their contracts during the Sony BMG merger (which put Arista & Jive on the same team as Epic & Columbia).
