Axl Rose - Obviously. After his treatment of fans in concerts over the years, he's now known as "Asshole Rose". I was the bigger Slash fan anyways when it came to G & R.

Julian Casablancas of the Strokes - I had to meet him to understand what a major douche he was. I still dig the Strokes, but I understand that you sometimes have to separate the art from the artist.

Exactly (years later I can't believe we are still talking about this, but here goes...) the thing that makes Justin a coward was how he actually handled the situation, not with what actually happened that night. The press crucified Janet over a wardrobe malfuntion that shouldn't had been that much of a big freaking deal, yet they didn't want her to attend the grammy awards and etc. (which I found to be laughable giving that other artists had made much bigger and horrendous mistakes than that and were welcomed with opened arms by the media rolleyes). The thing about Justin was that he kept quiet the whole time as if nothing ever happened...while Janet was recording apology tapes, Justin was off being welcomed with open arms by the "high" society when he could have stepped up and defended Janet by saying that the whole incident was a minor mistake and that it was rediculous that she was being shunned in the music industry at that time. A lot of things he was invited to and yet she wasn't, around that time, he could have boycotted by not attending as well unless they started treating Janet with the respect she deserved...but he didn't, and so he comes off as a media whore brat in many eyes today.

nod

Never really been a fan of Justin from the get go but that whole incident

made me despise him until this day.

Hmm, if that is what the original poster was referring to I am going to have to agree. I do recall some BS apology that Timberlake gave shortly afterwards and it was pretty stomach churning. Obviously he was much more interested in saving his own ass but he could have manned up and defended Janet at least a little bit.

Many times it's been said, "Never meet your heroes. They will always let you down." I understood that when I heard it the first time. I think it's why I never ever tried to get close to Prince to say hi to him or otherwise. I know others have had one-on-ones with him, but it's just never been my desire in my adult life. To each his own, of course.

I've had this experience with Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big). Met him a few years ago and he was a different person (not disrespectful, different), most likely because I've always had the image of him in the 90's and he's changed a lot since then..

Oh he's always had a great sense of humor, ever since his younger M.I.T days.. although there was something about PG in the 90's where he seemed more genuine in his persona if you will. In the past decade or so, a lot of new people have discovered him/heard his name through the net of course, and this sudden surge of popularity has somewhat changed him. He's not a dick or anything, but a lot more scripted, his way of talking has changed and almost as if he's on autopilot when he interacts with others. Basically the Paul of old felt like your old low-key friendly neighbor next door, where as the new Paul feels more corporate, in-demand and somewhat fake.

Eddie Van Halen - as noted, he's just greedy, and he's bitter and a know it all

Streisand - a bit big headed, too much for her own good

Prince - "Buy it, fuck you, buy it, fuck you."

Aguilera - she just tries too hard to be something she's not - yet.

Beyonce - she's just a liar, and a phenom poser.

Timberlake - A bit too much "My shit don't stink". He's already getting that "I can piss on a record and sell 5 million" thing Prince had.

David Lee Roth - while I can totally appreciate his wild man persona on stage (and perhaps in the bedroom according to his own words), in other situations like interviews and appearances it often crosses the line of being rude, inconsiderate, and a bit too manic for his own good.

Any young hip-hop or R&B "star" who thinks after one record selling a few copies, that they suddenly have 30 years of swagger under their belt. The whole baggy jeans, diamond necklace, gold grill - all that nonsense is just SOOOO annoying and over done. NO one is original or more flashy than the next by doing that. Everyone screams about being original and bringing something new and hot, but yet it's all one big, uninteresting blur. When you're that young, and done so little in the framework of time and career, you have zero right to come across like that.

So who is THE worst of the two evils within Van Halen, Eddie OR David?!?

Axl Rose --

1. He used a racial AND sexual slur in GNR's most infamous classic Once In A Million. Even if Axl was writing lyrics only about the black folks & the gay in his home town and no where else, the very fact that he would say those slurs at the expense of ever offending Slash & his mother (who is a black woman) alone makes Axl a piece of trash, IMO.

2. Musically, his biggest mistake was at one time trying to turn GNR into a Nine Inch Nails-wannabe band. This did NOT fit well with any of the band members (especially Slash) that thought it was THE dumbest idea Axl ever came up with. Considering that GNR (especially with all 5 original members) were once consider one of the baddest rock/metal bands ever, Nine Inch Nails should have try to reach GNR's level, NOT the other way around. But no one (especially Slash) could tell Axl anything because he is a hard-headed selfish asshole.

Kanye West, well at least he keeps it entertaining

Justin Timberlake, I've seen a few interviews where he was rather mean towards Michael, then in another interview praising him for being his hero. Everyone's entitled to their opinion but just be consistent! He makes himself look like a complete ass by dissing him one second and then worshiping him in the next. Plus the whole Janet thing.

Lilly Allen, too bitchy

Joss Stone, too immature

Eminem, too bitchy and too immature lol

Timberlake is a jackass. I don't care for his so-called art anyway so it's no big to me, but his public persona is so awful I'd be tempted to kick him in the balls if I ever got the chance. lol

Its BEYOND me how to this day nobody told him to cut the pretentious shit. I could never tolerate hearing another "free the music" sermon from him again, esp when he doesn't put his money where his mouth is.

nod

As I'm growing up, I've become more and more aware of that, among other things. It's diminished the way I used to be fascinated about his appearance too, since now most of the time I don't like who he seems to be inside his mind. disbelief I'll still listen to his music though.

I am part of the same choir, greek chorus as the two of you. maybe the fact that he is so seriously flawed in the pretentiousness and hypocritical department makes him more obviously human after all. In a way I love him because like most people he can't see his own shit as clearly as he can see others not matter how blatant it is.

IMO, not really. David Lee Roth can be a total dick at times. But as least he tries his best to go for a musically compromise (like having a change of heart about Eddie using a synth in the hit song Jump for example).

But trying to get a musically compromise out of Eddie Van Halen will most like get you put out of Van Halen the band (just ask poor Sammy Hager OR Michael Anthony!). Based on these specifics, I think Eddie is far worse than David.

Even if they're a nice person, they can never live up to the image you have in your head. No one could.

Living in Vancouver I run into famous types on a semi-regular basis, but I always look from afar. I'd rather have the fantasy of my heroes in my head than find out they're an asshole or they drink their coffee weird or something. And anyway, if it was me I wouldn't want some stranger coming up to me like we're best buddies while I'm just trying to go about my day.

Mariah Carey-"Look at me, I'm a girl" persona gets old really fast. Seems phony

Prince-After 20 years of listening to him, he was much better when he was shrouded in a veil of mystery. The music used to do the talking. Now his cryptic jibber jabber makes him come across as Phil Spectorish and just loopy.

50 cent-Starting beef with less talented rappers makes him so tough. Ja Rule? Rick Ross?

Eminem-The beefs with pop stars and recycled jabs at familiar targets gets old real fast.

Sir Paul McCartney-Love his music, but something about him always irritates me. He tries to come across as an everyman, but he prances around like "I'm Sir F****** Paul McCartney"

"Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."
