New rules: For artists doing farewell tours......

Ever since late summer 2009 when a-ha announced their last tour to coincide with their 25 year anniversary, a slew of artists have seen the chance to slap that title on their tour. But there are some rules that need be applied that will disqualify ALOT of these tours

First: You cannot do a farewell tour if you havent recorded anything in decades.

this point is applied to the GoGO's, though i love you girls , you cannot do a farewell tour when you have realized one new album in 26 years, its that simple, i understand that you have gotten together years ago and toured here and there, but its not a farewell.

Two: You cannot do a farewell tour if you have members missing.

this point is applied to Simply Red. Sorry Guys well guy, you cant say goodbye when no one in the band knows you longer than a month. This would be like Brit Girl Group The Sugababes doing a farewell (they have no originals) so i have NO ISSUE with bands going on with new members or singers, just DO NOT slap on that farewell title when you do it. So Queen and INXS and others take note, dont even think about doing that.

Three: You cant reunite and say farewell in one shot

this point is for the one and only POLICE, sorry guys, this one was fucking lame, get together, reunite and farewell all in one shot, no can do. So bands like the Commodores dont even think this shit for yourself.

There you have three simple rules to follow, so if you are going to say farewell make sure you have all your members, you still record consistently, and you have always been together to begin with.

mad are you talking shit about the GoGo's??? huh??!?! are you? well are you? i will f*&K your A$% up!! how dare you drag Belinda into this?!?!?! chair hmph! bawl

wink well as you'd have it they're not going away just yet......

GoGo's Cancel Summer Farwell Tour!!!!

June 9, 2010 (LOS ANGELES, CA) – It is with great regret that the Go-Go’s announce today the cancelation of Happily Ever After, their summer farewell tour. The tour was scheduled to kick off July 7 at Lilith Fair San Diego, and conclude in Austin, TX on July 27. The band will also be unable to perform live on Good Morning America, scheduled for July 16 in New York’s Central Park.

The news comes as a result of guitarist Jane Wiedlin injuring herself after a 20-foot fall while hiking near her home in Northern California a couple of weeks ago. Jane is scheduled for ACL replacement surgery for her knee in the coming weeks, with a prognosis of up to a year recovery time.

The band is heartbroken and hopes their fans will send best wishes for Jane’s speedy recovery. In the meantime, tickets can be refunded at point of purchase.

though, the GoGo's have been touring for years, (just about every year or at least couple years) so i think their farwell tour is timed right. i hear what you're saying though. smile

hey i love them but "farewell" ? im hearing now that Level 42 is now thinking of changing their tour to a farewell tour??? thats a whole other rule breaker right there, and a violation of my "missing members" rule.

yeah i think i will have to add this new rule

If you go on a farewell tour, charge big bucks, put out a cd/dvd after the fact of that tour, and then come back a few years later with a tour, that TOUR has to be free to everyone that has a ticket stub from the "farewell".

i think we can apply this to many

what about the 4th rule?

you cannot have a farewell tour if your band is called "The Rolling Stones". At least not just one of them.

I still play pokemon. I play warcraft. And I'm awesome.
