Maxwell is stopping his major city tour so that he can focus his attention to the follow-up to his Grammy Award winning BLACKSummersnight album.

A Colubmia Records spokesperson said that “scheduling conflicts with the venues” was the reasoning behind the cancellalations and the second leg of the tour will be pushed back to next year to go along with the release of his new project, the second part to the “BlackSummersNight” album trilogy.

Hate to say it but this has been an awful year for tours, all genres, all levels of popularity. Almost nobody is selling tickets at projected levels. If he's already hit most of these towns in the last 2 years, he may not be able to keep it going.

Not to say that he's good or bad or his popularity is slipping... it's just a tough world out there.

Depends who you are the demographic of your genre and plain and simple what you are charging, there are succesful tours out there in the world that are selling seats, but alot of artists in the states seem to think 75-100 is a fair ticket for 80-90 minutes of playing time ? sometimes less, i mean people bitch about 12 bucks for a 60 minute cd. Artists or should i say promotors need to get real, venues need to get real, but the thing is when you play major cities, you have to take into consideration the venues rent. Alot of artists think they can still charge 100+ dollars for nosebleed seats, reality is setting in with half full arenas, im scanning down the "boxscore" for shows and outside of Bon Jovi springsteen and Elton John and a couple of Country acts no one in this country is selling over 70% of capacity, and alot below 50

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
