This may sound strange, but it never dawned on me that this song is a spiritual song Reading the lyrics and actually listening to the song it does seem to be just that Is there anybody else out there that didn't know this? Maybe it's just me Anyway, simply beautiful song-I love it

I feel you. I always loved "Never Knew Love Like This Before."

When Bette Midler sang "Stay With Me Baby" in her Divine Madness live album she talked about how when she "first heard this song she thought it was about a man and a woman. Now I ain't so sure. Maybe it's about your Ma, or your Pa, or somebody who left your hurting real bad." She goes on to say that "maybe it's my turn to go away, cause ain't it about time somebody grabbed ahold of me and say NO, YOU CAN'T GO, DONT GOOOOOO ... Stay With Me Baby."

Not a lot of people puttin' it down like that (Steph or Bette) anymore.
