Singer Admits Role In Woman's Drug Overdose Death

People really need 2 start making better decisions about whom they are "hanging" out with.

Fulton County officials said the lead singer of an Atlanta-based rock band has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the death of a 32-year-old woman.

Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard announced the conviction by guilty plea of Warren Eugene Ullom, lead singer of the Atlanta rock group The Judies.

Ullom, 24, pleaded guilty Monday to the charge of voluntary manslaughter and was immediately sentenced by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Doris Downs to 20 years in prison for his role in a drug-overdose death.

The case involved the death of Rachel San Inocencio, a 32-year-old woman who had met Ullom only a few days before her death. On June 6, 2008, investigators said she went to Ullom’s apartment where the two engaged in heroin use. The victim suddenly became critically ill from the drugs, but Ullom refused to seek medical attention on her behalf, officials said. He instead called a friend to bring some cocaine over, and as the victim lay unconscious for hours, he injected her twice with cocaine in an attempt to revive her from the heroin overdose.

that is very sad. was that the woman's first time using heroine? he must have given her too much because why did he not have a bad reaction also? he gives her more drugs on top of the already damaging dose. idiot!

Damn...from the looks of him he's about to do some hard, hard, hard time. 20 years is going to be an eternity of hell for him.

How long will he have to serve before eligible for parole? 20 years is very severe as she consented to the drugs and was presumably not 'vulnerable' at 32.

That is so fucked up. It's the same thing that killed the drummer from the NY Dolls - went to a party, took a little too much of something and passed out, and people were too scared to call an ambulance. Fuckwits. BOTH of them would be alive if somebody could have thought about someone else's life vs. a little trouble for themselves. It's just so wrong. She may have been complicit in the circumstances of her own death but for him to just let her curl up and die on his floor is unforgivable.

But I guess if you're all strung out on junk maybe you're not making rational decisions.

It's so sad though. Nobody goes to a party not expecting to come home.

That's why his dumb ass deserves to go to jail. He could have just drove her to a hospital and left her outside the doors and maybe she would have had a chance but he decides to give her more drugs to try to reverse the effects of the heroine I'm guessing. He deserves 20 years just for being a dumbass. The fact that he injected her twice makes it almost look like he was trying to finish her off more than help her and the fact that he had to call someone to bring him the cocaine makes it look like a pre-meditated murder more than just voluntary manslaughter. Dude got off easy. He'll probably be eligible for parole in less than 10 years. Hell, Dr. Kevorkian served 8 years of a 10-25 year second degree murder prison sentence for doing assisted suicides on terminally ill patients so how this jackass just got an voluntary manslaughter charge is really beyond my understanding.

But 20 years for fucks sake! I googled his name and came upon his myspace, it said 'Warren is taking a break'. A very traumatic break it's likely to be

If someone is dying and a person can save them but refuses to than they can be held liable for that individual's death. If you are with someone when they commit a murder and do nothing to stop it than the court will hold you just as accountable for that murder as the person who actually did it even though that individual didn't die by your hand. I guess all the courts look at is if it was preventable and/or the person could have been saved in the end to determine liability. He won't serve 20 years. I'm guessing 10 at the ultimate max; probably less if he has good behavior.

He should have had more common sense though...don't really need to take an oath for that. He could have just dumped her in front of a hospital and just walked away and no one would have been any the wiser if she lived or died. At least she would have had a better chance instead of dying slowly on this guy's area rug as he continued to inject her with more drugs. Doctor or not, this girl didn't sign a consent form asking to be killed just because she took some heroine, just like people don't sign consent forms when they get into deadly car accidents because someone drank one too many or made an illegal turn. They probably only gave him 20 years because he was a junkie. There have been cases just like this where the person got life without parole. They both should have just said 'no' to drugs because he'll probably be in jail for at least 5 years but she'll still be dead with a family to grieve her absence so nobody really wins in the end.

Certainly his actions aggravated the crime and he deserves to be inside by the looks of it, he could be a real scumbag or someone who made some very stupid decisions while spaced-out, it's just that in the past I've been amazed at how harsh sentencing can be in the States.

He just made a really stupid decision. He probably thought the cocaine would negate the heroin and even her out, because it's an upper and heroin is a downer but he probably just caused her to have a heart attack and respiratory distress all at the same time. He should have just tried dumping her in an ice bath or using an epinephrine pin to jump start her heart if he wasn't going to take her to a hospital and he definitely should have called 911 because that would have saved him from being convicted in the end. He could have just lied and said he had no idea what she took and his hands would have been clean.

Yeah, some worser crimes have warranted less time but those people usually get some great lawyers. I think in his case the fact that he just injected her with more drugs not once but twice sealed his fate. What he did would probably be considered overkill like in crimes where someone stabs another person 100 times instead of just twice or someone unloads the gun into someone and then reloads it to fire some more. It looks pre-meditated like he planned it out instead of it being a spontaneous act. There was a case a few years back where a woman killed her husband while she was on her period and she got off because they found her to be chemically imbalanced at the time and not in her right frame of mind; they basically felt that she had temporary insanity when she commited the crime. People who commit crimes of passion often don't serve as much time because it wasn't a planned thing and many of them plead insanity. Man, I really do watch too much 'Snapped', 'The First 48', and 'Forensic Files'. lol There are ways around almost anything if you have a good lawyer to instruct you properly as sad as that sounds.

I blame society. Seriously. Basically from the day we are born we learn that not getting caught and passing the buck are the most important life skills a person can have. None of our leaders in politics or business take responsibility for their actions so why should this guy think that he ought to? It's sad but true that as a society we do not place any value on telling the truth and taking responsibilty for our mistakes. Instead we value lying and deception.
