So 80s inspired... when the videos were a bunch of crazy shit that had nothing to do with the song

Still too calculating though. Its like she has to be different and look different ALL THE TIME. Its becoming formulaic and predictable.
In interviews, she seems very serious which either indicates a total lack of sense of humour (considering how odd she often looks etc..), or she is deliberately being po faced and serious which makes her fake.

anyone else think in this video that Gaga looks like a younger, blond Liza Minelli?
anyway, I just think she is trying too hard to constantly "outdo" herself each time.

"I struggle with my feelings about the Church in particular....in terms of religion, I'm very religious. I was raised Catholic. I believe in Jesus. I believe in God. I'm very spiritual. I pray very much. But at the same time, there is no one religion that doesn't hate or speak against or be prejudiced against another racial group or religious group, or sexual group. For that, I think religion is also bogus. So I suppose you could say I'm a quite religious woman that is very confused about religion. And I dream and envision a future where we have a more peaceful religion or a more peaceful world, a more peaceful state of mind for the younger generation. And that's what I dream for."
Honestly, if she had not explained the meanings behind this video's imagery I would have thought that it was either: soft core porn or an homage to Madonna. Seriously, didn't Madonna already do this back in the early 90s?

lol way to not read the thread at all.
Gaga is only 24, she's an artist and she is examining her own confusion this way. I'm sure she'll realise what you've said here soon enough (I agree with you btw)
That's the key to understanding Gaga: listen to her.

Agreed, this would have been a perfect opportunity to take it down a notch - it's such a simple, breezy song

Not really, i guess Ga Ga is smarter than CA and knew she was doing a copycat Album and Video of her style which as we know take's alot from Madonna 80's style.....
It was more a way of showing CA how to do a video the right way.....
Cheeky = Yes
In Your Face CA = Yes
Someone who studied Madonna, Prince, MJ, Bowie, the 80's very well and understands the power of glam, image, video's, style, fashion, hype = Full Marks A Star !

I thought "Telephone" was a fun video, but I know what you mean? BTW, when I first saw it I thought this was bound to irritate off conservatives AND straight male Three Stooges fans (or basically ALL Three Stooges fans)! And if you're both, you'll be really steamed! I mean, I don't think it would be offensive to say those guys where all Moes. It would be a much funnier video if they were all Larry Fines. And I am disappointed that there was no product placement.

Yeah.
As for the video. I don´t know. I´d give thums up to the camera man or something, but why the only theme that all the "artist" can come up with is sex and violence.
Let me know when she comes up with some depth. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Didn't like the video. Just a bunch of rip-offs of various older artists, mainly Madonna. Plus the video, which is pretty dark does not suit the feeling of the song at all (which has a light and summertime vibe)

Wasn't really paying attn to the video, but I do loooove this song! She Don't Speak..But She Remembers

The only Madonna reference I really caught was "Vogue" with the similar black/white lighting and barrel-bra.

You don't need to be in a band to realize it; it's a rip-off, that's for sure.
The ego of this Lady is growing to unexpected and embarrassingly enormous proportions
I still prefer the funnier/simpler Just Dance-PokerFace era...
please! enough of this bombastic videos, damn! ...Telephone, ...Alejandro...

It is not suppose to make sense right away. The images are subliminal messages that your subconscious will record and accept.
There is a message there. Intelligent people talk about ideas. -->Average people talk about things. --> Small people talk about other people.

So which Madonna album/era is this song an outtake from? Come on, someone has got to know. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

I was saying if you play in a band you could do a "mix" in the setlist from going from the Lady Gaga song into this.
It wasn't in reference it being a uh, homage. "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

Thank you. It was even noted that the video was Rhythm Nation-esque before it even came out. The video is great, but that opening sequence is pure Janet.
