Welcome to the Machine
This song is primarily about the record industry and it's a great song extremely well executed. The song puts me in mind of Prince's struggle with Warner Brothers back in 95 circa. Adversity makes great rock n' roll, intense guitar solos and cutting lyrics yet Prince didn't seem to use the most obvious skills to protest - his music. Prince wrote slave on his cheek and changed his name to a symbol when he could have been putting great music. I just feel that it was a missed opportunity.

(Why oh why do we have that video on this forum?)
In fact, I think when Prince was doing stupidities such as changing his name to a squiggle or writing 'Slave' on his face he was indeed putting out great music. Not the same now.

When i posted a post about my wish to have Akiko Yano working with Prince, it was moved to the "music : non Prince" forum.
Therefore in order to be fair, so should this post.
If not i might consider sending a cease & desist to the Org A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Totally wrong forum. Has zip to do with Prince.
Do your homework - Prince's fight with WB was way before and after 1995.

As the the other poster already stated, Prince was creating high quakity inspired work during the intitial rebellion against WB but your Pink Floyd connection reminds me of their other music business diatribe, Have A Cigar, which is what I always presumed was in the mind of the execs when he presented them with ATWIAD (Or any other artists trying to follow up a massive success And yes, I'm aware of the famed listening party you anal retentive Prince fucks lol).
Come in here, Dear boy, have a cigar.

Judging by your comments positions of topics in forums seems to be of the utmost importance yet paradoxically the comments made barely attempt to put worthwhile comments into the substance of the topic. (with perhaps one exception)
The subject is Prince and his music and how he could have did something brilliant in his then circumstances. Welcome to the Machine is a perfect example that I appropriately supplied.
Look out for Susannah Melvion singing in the video.
