"Like a Prayer", "Live to Tell", "Ray of Light" and "Rain" are good songs?

I think her music is ok. ‘Poker Face’ is a killer track, ‘telephone’ and ‘bad romance’ – not so much.

But she is over-hyped and over-exposed at the moment which can put you off any artist no matter how talented they are.

Also I think everything about her image and what comes out of her mouth is well planned and thought out, It’s not who she really is. I remember her saying in an interview that she felt like an outcast at school for wanting to be different like Boy George. But I’m pretty sure she grew up in an era where his popularity had faded and looking at her old pictures (posted on various websites) she looked like any ordinary all American blonde good time girl who seemed to fit in perfectly – I just don’t find her genuine.

And some of the things she says are ridiculous like when she was on Larry King and she talked about a person at high school being beaten because they wore a t-shirt which had the words gay on it. Who the hell does that apart from Perez Hilton? I think anyone at high school wearing a t-shirt like or with the words ‘heterosexual’ or ‘bisexual’ that deserves to be beaten for being a god damn geek.

confuse Nah she said the teacher sent them home because there was something wrong with having the word on their shirt, ie. projecting who they are.

And heterosexuals project themselves all the time, in case you haven't noticed. eek

That VOICE, her openness about playing an instrument (so many pop stars hide it!), openly stands up for equality and how much she loves her fans:

I also LOVE that she has acoustic versions of all her songs to prove she can really sing them and knows them inside out:

But really, if you have to search for a reason to like her, why bother? If people have to spell it out for you, then just let it go. You don't have to like her just because a lot of people do. I don't make threads titled "CHRISTINA - MAKE ME LIKE HER" because I don't want to like her and don't care to.

Also, it's pretty silly to judge a (pop) artist on their singles, singles are designed to sell, be instantly catchy and not much else. If you really want to like her, don't bother with The Fame just go straight to The Fame Monster.

“That VOICE, her openness about playing an instrument (so many pop stars hide it!), openly stands up for equality and how much she loves her fans:”

Please name some pop stars who play instrutments who never play then on stage or just hide the fact that they play an instrutment?

“I also LOVE that she has acoustic versions of all her songs to prove she can really sing them and knows them inside out:”

If she wrote the songs why would she not know then inside and out ?

“But really, if you have to search for a reason to like her, why bother? If people have to spell it out for you, then just let it go. You don't have to like her just because a lot of people do. You are right about this. I do not think Mrs. Ga Ga is doing anything special and I will never put up any threads about her as I realize that bad taste is just in fashion right now.

“Also, it's pretty silly to judge a (pop) artist on their singles, singles are designed to sell, be instantly catchy and not much else. If you really want to like her, don't bother with The Fame just go straight to The Fame Monster.”

It is not silly because the singles should be the best cuts on the CD and the songs that are going to make the public interested. This chick does not have an interesting voice, nothing great about her piano playing and no way should she be given the hype that she have received with just two CDs.

Actually those are the two things that have set her apart from the pack in the dance/pop genre. shrug Not to mention those are her own songs she is performing. shrug

Orgers bitch and moan because pop stars aren't playing instruments, writing their own songs and producing their own material like in the 80's - and now when we get someone who does these things, on a debut album no less, and she just ain't good enough by their standards. lol

Her contrived image and her music is very 80's inspired - synthesizer overload, catchy lyrics and dancable

My point was, if that was the entire formula then everyone would have a huge hit on their hands, so you can't gloss over the details that define the "x" factor

Not in such a bold and explicit way. I'm pretty sure a person wearing a 'hetrosexual' t-shirt would be sent home too.

You sound straight lol

edit PS: Her comment wasn't a debate about what should appear on a t-shirt, it was a comment on the "don't ask don't tell" and why it needs to be repealed, people are being discriminated against through social policies on every level, even young people in school learning it's wrong to be themselves.

Huh? What stupid random comment is that?

I just don't buy her persona; sorry sometimes we don't all share the same opinions and tastes.

Sorry for that, but that's why I added the edit - the point you seemed to miss when Gaga said it, and again when I said it above in plain english. shrug Apparently the status quo suits you just fine?

I do understand the point she is trying to make and I respect her call for change, but i guess her example was weak to me.

You know hip hip horray that she plays an instrument and writes her own songs. What difference does it make if it sucks!!! and really is not all that different from other dance artist. Someone else said how is she doing anything different from Kylie Mignoe or Maddonna.

That is who she tries to ride off. If anyone is lazy it is Lady Gaga. In addtion, I do not think Maddonna or Kylie are all that great either.

She is one of the MANY reasons why I don't bother with Today's current music. I find her music to be, "Been there, done that" type of thing. Her need to bring the "80s back" is very tiring, people have been do that mess since 2006, can we just move on already? I don't hate or anything, I just don't find her music to be interesting or even her image.

She's the first intelligent pop star with something to say in God knows how long. The raw smarts and ambition are what remind me of Madonna more than anything. GaGa is far ahead of where Madonna was at this point in her career (and is now) in terms of musical talent, however.

neutral What intelligent things is she saying with her songs????????? Do tell because it sounds like the run of the mill drivel to me.
