Brian McKnight - Evolution Of A Man

[img:$uid]http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee235/PDogzOrg/BrianMcKnightEvolution.jpg[/img:$uid]

How come no one told me about this album?!? excited I came across it by chance in my playlist (...yes, I've had it for a while and had yet to listen to it) and immediately fell in love with it. Especially "Next2U" and "Ibetchaneva": I love what he's doing with the rhythm and timing on these tracks. And speaking of rhythm, "While" is just too groovy, like on some Frankie Beverly type vibe. All the songs are very well produced, this is one of those albums that I always hope to find. One that you can play from beginning to end without skipping around.

So now I've been listening to "Evolution Of A Man" for a couple of days now, and it's just dawned on me that Brian McKnight has always been kinda awesome. And I find myself wondering why I haven't been collecting his music up to this point, or is "Evolution Of A Man" just a fluke? Because now that I'm thinking about him, I don't believe he ever made a song that I didn't like, and everytime I've seen him perform on TV he seems to be a multi-talented, and very agile, musician. Sings beautifully as well.

Haven't seen Brian McKnight mentioned a whole lot here, and even I'm wondering how I've overlooked him. Is everybody else hatin'? Or is Brian McKnight some sort of unspoken genius?

I bet you couldn't fit the heads of Prince and Brian McKnight in the same room, lol.

This album has went by without much fanfare. The few tracks that I've heard

from it were pretty good but i never got around to hearing the whole album.

this to me is the best track from the album.

I really love when he does acoustic performances....like this one with Stevie Wonder, to showcase his vocal and playing...(although its stevie on keys for this one, on the sidebar there's more)

Must have been very frustrating for him. I've been listening to the entire album all weekend long, and I think it's excellent. Goes to show; you're doomed if you wait for the RADIO to tell you what's good.

Love both those songs. It's crazy that it's taken me till this moment to realize I'm a Brian McKnight fan, lol.

Brian messed up his own promotion. He should have concentrated on this album instead of trying to be an actor/ television host/radio host.

Yeah, it's a can of worms. I think most singers/musicians feel the need or pressure to branch out because of the precarious music business. Granted it's always has been but it appears more fickle than ever. I'll give it a listen and see. I've never liked Mr. McKnight music but who knows, he may surprise me.

I was pretty much the same way, had never really followed him aside from a few of his hits I've heard on the radio and some of his TV appearances. Though when I saw him on TV, I was always impressed by his ability to play both guitar and piano. So I can't really speak on his career as a whole, but on this one album alone - I'm really feeling it. Didn't have to grow on me one bit, it was there... instantly, lol.

And I LOVE when that happens, because it reinforces my belief that there's tons of good music out there just waiting to be heard. I love that I have 2 or 3 new favorite songs today that I didn't even know existed a few days ago. And I know there's more out there, lol.

I'm also just noticing, this album dropped just a few months after Michael passed away. That might be partly why I missed it's release. I don't think I heard ANYTHING about ANYTHING aside from Michael in the months following his departure.
